I want to get the cats on all raw agin (they were getting half canned and half raw) but I want to find an easier way to do it. With the ferrets I do 8-9 bone in meals, 3-4 muscle meat meals (including 2 heart meals) and 1 organ meal but since cats need less bone how many bone in and boneless meals would they need.

Personally, i feed my 2 cats the same as the ferrets. Mine seem to eat what they want as far as bone. My cats have went from eating only the bones from chicken breast to on chicken days eating and sharing a whole chicken leg and theigh with the bone, and some days, only eating the meat off of the bone. No poop problems, and they both seem to know what they need.

Some seem to do well with the same amount of bone as ferrets. Mine didn't- they needed less(when they were eating raw ). If I gave the same amount of bone they got constipated. The stool was dry and whitish in colour, and they had trouble passing it. They did well on the equivalent of 3-4 chicken necks a week.

I used to feed the same as the cats or vice versa....but I've noticed as the cats have got older (all 3 are 15 yrs) that they can't take as much bone. All I did was add a little extra meat to their food (and take care that the ferrets didn't steal it ) ciao

That could be the difference I noticed. My youngest is 9.

I think I will start with 1 less bone in meal and see how it goes. With Ty I may give less since hes 10. He does refuse to eat bone for some meals though. Maybe he knows how much he needs.
