where the ferrets love to annoy you I need some really cheap ideas to keep them entertained! We already have 5 tunnels made out of three different things, a box filled with balls of newspaper that they play in.. a million different toys all around the floor and hanging off stuff... 2 plastic bags w/o the handles... 2 paper bags... a ball pit box that they don't really play in... yet they're still digging to get into the lounge! I also don't have a job at the moment so the fund are limited so any kind of toys or entertainment that I can make at home or buy for under $10 would be great

Oh! Hide Shinny stuff for them to find in their play area! I do that with my chinchillas it helps distract them from jumping the gate!

Have you read through some of the threads in this section? There are some awesome ideas. Jennifer gave an idea of tubes made with plastic pop bottles...it works fantastic. I've got dozen's of these contraptions. What about a box of rice (you can buy it by the bag cheaper than you can sand). Throw a clean blanket in the middle of the floor and watch the games. Grab a towel and drag it across the floor...my guys love this game. As far as keeping them out of someplace...forget it. If its forbidden....they're in there like dirty socks . Ferrets are just like 3 yr old skinkids....tell them they can't do something or go somewhere and that becomes the whole of their beings ciao.

Speaking of dirty socks they've hidden all of mine We generally play games with them but today it just doesn't seem to be doing anything for them! they just want to dig dig dig... I will search for the plastic bottle tubes though! thank you I've thought about rice dig boxes, are they safe to leave them on their own with them? I did dig around the threads but I will do some more digging and hopefully find some fun stuff for them. Lately they don't really seem to want to play at all just get into the lounge..

Plastic bags with the handles cut off them. Supervised only.
Move all the stuff around, change where there tunnels lead etc.

I use a rice dig box in the playroom. It's one of the "under the bed" rubbermaid containers. Also, I've found when I move things around, suddenly everything becomes new again ;D

Also, if possible, outdoor time can be a great energy-spender. I try to walk my kids 3-4 times a week, and after a good 20-30 min outside they are usually pooped and then take a nap.

Thanks guys I will try and move some of their stuff around tomorrow! I give a couple of them outside time in our vege patch so they can dig. I wish I could take them all out together but none of it is secured properly

I give a couple of them outside time in our vege patch so they can dig. I wish I could take them all out together but none of it is secured properly So buy them a harness and then take them on the street for a walk? If you can only afford 1 harness, then take them 1 by 1. I know Pixel absolutely LOVES to go to the park and play with all the kids! (:

We have harnesses for them, I just don't trust my backyard and neighbours that much. That and I'd prefer an enclosed area for them to play in outside so that they don't have to be limited by a leash I changed up their play area today and the weather seems to be ok so I might take them outside for a play

I made a playpen once out of cardboard boxes. Took 4 huge boxes, cut holes in the insides and connected them with clips. The cage is NOT their normal cage, it's their travel cage. In this case it was just a place to potty, get water and rest. It's hard to see inside, but the inside walls have all kinds of different shaped holes cut into them. Some had bubble tubes, some were empty. One box had its entire floor covered with stuffed animals, one was full of towels to burrow in, and the other two I just had small bath mats on the bottom so they weren't slipping on cardboard. It cost me $5 to make and they LOVEEEEEEEEE it!! They spend hours in there, chasing each other through the holes and fighting over stuffies. I'm hoping to pick up a new plastic tube to add some more tunnels going through it. It doesn't exactly collapse as easy as the commercially sold playpens but they go bonkers for this jury rigged contraption, lol
