Wow.... after watching this, I made a batch of raw soupie for my guys. I am going to try the raw thing again. Everyone remembered it was food but my two youngest.

This is a really good video to show friends and family who don't have a clue how bad most pet food is!

I'm not shocked, I did this research when I got my cat... I do however have to keep my mouth shut when I see people buying kibble and talking about their latest vet visit and I'm thinking "I know the answer to your problem..." I wonder what I'll do in vet school...

Anybody know where I can buy some of that "Old Boots" brand dog food? ;D I wish I could actually buy some, it would make such a great object lesson to doubters who think kibble is healthy! Like hey, would you feed this to your dog? It passes the same tests your food does...

Having been a raw feeder through that episode and watching friends and family and watched a friend who ran a rescue for teeny tiny dogs loose dog after dog to kidney failure was heartbreaking. Shelters often rely on donation food and often it isn't the best foods but with this particular episode someone had generously donated some high end brands which she gave to her at most risk dogs, seniors and puppies. I believe she lost 6 or 7 dogs including her own pet yorky....she also lost all her barn cats (vets contributed it to a virus....though I believe they later suggested that it might have been the food) I am and was a moderator on a raw list and the influx of new members was staggering causing us to be heavily overloaded not only with new members who were terrified of what they had been feeding their dogs and cats but who were looking to raw to save their pets (which couldn't happen, though we were able to assist many with creating a better diet for their sick pets) I think the thing most disturbs me about that whole incident, is how fast the general public forgot and went back to feeding without question whatever the companies put out there. Many companies had to change their packaging but many people went back to feeding the exact same food as before, stating that the dog food manufacturers had learned their lessons. Let's face the manufacturers don't have the pet's best interest, they're all about making money and if they can find a method that will maintain the numbers that they have to give the examining boards, but cost less they will. The chemical (melanine) is still allowed to be placed in kibbles (it's used to raise the protein levels). It's just regulated now and they can't use as much....there is a safe amount that your pets can consume . People wonder why dogs that used to live to be 12 and 13 yrs now only live to be 7 and 8....why cats are now considered "seniors" at 7 and dead by 13. People just don't get it ciao

Heather my parents were born in the 30's & 40's respectively. They lived on farms & they never had pet foods that they could just buy at a store. They would feed the meat scraps, organs, bones, leftovers from dinner and breakfast, etc. My mom says that their cats often lived well into their 20's and these were outdoor cats! Their dogs also lived a lot longer.

My sister in law's father in law (I know sounds confusing) used to raise beagles. He was a breeder. He says in the old days his dogs were fed meat scraps, etc and they never died of cancers he never saw tumors on them. He said that after he started using the commercial dog foods now he's seeing these dogs live less & less. He says that cancerous tumors are the #1 cause of death.

What can you expect when they use 3D meats. Sometimes heat doesn't kill everything There was a reason for the paper that came out that stated that vets were finding that pets were requiring more and more anesthetic to go under. The problem was they were actually getting an immunity to it, it was in the pet food. There was pages and pages of the names of pet foods (some were high end brands too) tested that was positive for the name anesthetic. ciao

My cousins have dairy farms. When I was little I went to stay with them on one of their farms where they had a bunch of land. They used to have dogs on the farm that were free-roam and didn't get any kibble. They were almost like wild dogs except tame lol... They ate garbage from the family's landfill, cow poop, table scraps, and afterbirth from the cows Sounds gross, but they all lived long lives and didn't require veterinary care.

In other words- they ate what is a natural diet for dogs! I'm also willing to bet that squirrels, mice, etc were in there as well

I think the true sign of health is an animals coat & eyes. My dog was switched to a raw diet over 2 years ago. He now has zero stomach issues that he had before and his coat is beautiful. His eyes are bright and he rarely has those nasty eye boogies. He gives a raw diet 4 thumbs up.
