I have tried to give Flower treats but she just completely ignores them!! Is that something that will come in time? I want to be able to give her snacks and treats and spoil her (of course in a healthy way ) I just want to make sure she has a full and happy life with me. Do some ferrets just not eat treats? Am I trying the wrong ones? What do you guys use as treats?

My kids are imprinted on the Marshall Bandit treats Won't take anything else...and if they don't get a treat for pooing in the litter pan, they WILL make a "statement poop"!!! lil buggers... i'd be interested in any suggestions on getting ferrets to eat different types of treats though...I hate those Bandit treats, so unhealthy!!!

Treats at my house include:
Extra virgin olive oil Chicken feet Warm pumpkin
Other oils like fish oils are just as healthy (maybe even more).

Freya & pixel if my ferrets only like bandits then I would opt not to give them any treats. My ferret doesn't get any treats. The occasional piece of s wysong dream treat maybe. But he enjoys his meals so much that his food is the treat. He gets excited at meal tome and when I tap his bowl he comes running from the far end of the house to eat. I give salmon oil and a bit of linatone a few times a week. Also totally ferret Vivify which is poultry fat, emu oil and lecithin. Ferrets LOVE Vivify!!

It takes awhile for them to warm up to something. If you must give them, I suggest you limit those bandit treats to one or two per week. They are loaded with sugar.

Personally, mine will only take a few. Freeze dried chicken hearts, broken up. Wild bites ostrich/bison, and oil. Ferrets do NOT need treats, though. We do As for Bandits, I avoid those like the plague! Nasty, nasty things and she also likes raw baby carrots broken into little pieces. And saffyful, I'd stay away from anything like that. It's quite literally a blockage waiting to happen. Not an "if", but a "when". And emergency surgery for something like that can run up to $1800 depending on where it gets stuck She can't digest them at all, and they will come out the same shape they go in. When I first got ferrets, I used to give them tiny bits of raw apple(per instructions from someone who should have known better), until my vet explained the above to me.

I use dried meats when I'm training. Soupies, frozen pinkies, frozen chicken feet, chicks and oils are "treats" outside of there normal diet.

The oils are the best. My ferret will go nuts for Vivify or linatone.

My favor saying is: Ferrets don't need treats, it's us human who think they need treats. The best choice for treats for your ferret are meat based treats. Cooked chicken, turkey and steak are great treats. Never give your ferret any fruits (fresh or dried) or high carb- sugary treats such as raisins, cheerios, 8-1 yoggies, or anything banana-raisin flavored. Ferrets are obligate carnivores, which means they require a diet that's very high in meat-based protein and fat. Because they lack a cecum, ferrets cannot digest plant protein, so fruits and veggies is a no...no - no matter how much they beg. Sugary snacks, such as raisins, may cause obesity, tooth decay, and aggravation of hypoglycemia caused by insulinomas. High carbohydrate treats, such as cookies, cereal and bread may lead to diseases of the pancreas. Yes, they will beg for healthy treats. Here are some suggestions for healthy treats Cooked or raw chicken, turkey, steak N- bones Totally Ferret Treats Foamy Fries Ferretone Chesweasel Mice and or baby chicks Eggs Chicken gravy or duck soup Stage 2 baby Food My kids love these treats; Prime Bites Chicken caseyshiddenpantry.com/primebitechkn.htmlDuck Breast. They also like the chicken breast. www.petguys.com/-768303014930.htmlBest treat you can give your ferret is attention. It's FREE.
