I don't see why that would make a difference. Just be careful when heating is all.

I don't see why it would make a difference either. If you are worried about messing up the surface maybe heat up a pan and then put the can in it to warm up.

If you have an iron skillet you could set the can in it to heat it or set it on a baking pan in the oven...... Just make sure you use some good pot holders so you don't burn your hands

Soooo. I have a feeding den that Kimble uses. Foster and Avery usually eat ground meat with slivers/slices/chunks. So when I get them up to large chunks, will they share Kimble's den, or do they each need their own?

Unless the den is large enough to all fit in at once they will need individual ones

I made my new feeding den and it looks like they prefer eating outside of it after they've grabbed the food from inside! There's no winning with ferrets lol *

As natural prey/predators, they naturally move the food away from where they found it - in case someone else has seen it before and might be coming back for it. I think this is something the feeding dens do help with, because it makes them feel less open to attack, but (especially with multiple-ferret homes) it's still in their nature to eat the food elsewhere.

I think because they have to go all the way in and are 'covered.' If it is at the front the grab it and run somewhere else. And of course, I just started hanging the larger pieces with shower hooks and they not only really love this (playing with it) but it of course keeps them from doing it too.

Unless the den is large enough to all fit in at once they will need individual ones Thanks Sherry. Looks like I'll need to make one more with two doors, so F&A can share. They are used to sharing a dish, so I doubt they'll be too out of sorts sharing one den. I've been wondering if part of the reason they've been reluctant to eat larger pieces, is that they consider the den that is in the cage to be Kimble's, and don't want to intrude or something.

Oliver was weird about that at first too, didn't want to go in Pepe's 'territory.' Someone (I thought it was Pepe, but it could have been Oliver) even started pooping in it for a few days. Marking their territory. This was when Oli was still on soupy and I was feeding him just outside the den, but on the same 'feeding' level. When we brought Ruby home she went straight in! Thought it was great! And we also noticed Oli started going in there too to get bone in pieces. So we removed the soupy and they are all using it. However, I have noticed that when I first put food in they ALL dash to the den and Pepe usually sits half in with his big rump in the hole and no one can eat. I think my solution is the two holes, but also a bigger den. Maybe start putting F&A food in there too and see what happens? Maybe they will get Kimble's food confused for theirs and accidentally take a big bite of BONE. Silly kids.

Simple, but it worked Boys fighting over chicken leg (that, yes, they pulled out of the den to eat (headwall)) pic of Ruby crunching on bones

Yep! I solved the issue by placing their food bowl just outside the den, so they grab the food and run inside to eat it. No more meat chunks in the litter box!

Took my girls a little bit to get the idea also..... But I just kept putting the food back in the den even if they were attached..... They finally got the idea........ and I have a large den on the bottom of my cage and a medium one on the middle level.... so there is enough room for two or three to eat at once..... but on a whole... they just eat separately.... when they are hungry
