I've noticed raw feeders on here say their ferrets smell kind of like 'stale corn chips'. Well thats what Salem has smelt like ever since I changed his food from living world to vetafarm so I'm guess this food must be better for him? he hasn't had any meats for about a week or 2

My fuzzes don't smell at all. The corn chip smell I find was when they were on kibbles. Now, my wee ones just smell clean ciao

I second Heather, Loki smelled like corn chips on the better kibble foods. He's been eating freeze dried for the last week and I don't smell much, there is still a little hint of corn chips but I only notice if I bury my face in his neck.

Agreed... my long-time raw fed ferrets don't smell like much of anything. A stale ferret-y smell starts to build up on their bedding and in their carrier, so if I can smell anything at all, it means it's time to do laundry. And that smell is NOT like the kibble body odor/kibble poop smell, which was a thousand times worse!

I do get that smell when they've all been cuddled up together in the sleeping den, and I just pull them out and inhale the scent around their neck. What I DO get with them is the "grape tail" ;D A very slight grape juice smell to a long time raw fed ferret's tail

My ferret sometimes smells like hay? Sometimes slightly popcorn-ish. His tail smells like grape kool aid and Nag Champa incense. His front paws smell like Fritos.

My hob Finn has been on raw for 4 months and he still smells musky But he does have grape tail too which is cute! My sprite Fiona has virtually no smell on her except grape tail. Now Fenton... he has grape tail, bum, legs, and body I get a whiff of grape smell anywhere from his tail, all the way up to his shoulders! Is that wierd?

Koda smells like vanilla, hay, and warm fur. I LOVE it. I took him into the clinic I work at last week and everyone was like OMG!!!! Then there was a loud and excited debate over whether he smelled more like chocolate, the Yankee Candle Store, or holiday spices. He hasn't had a bath in months and was even caught digging in his (dirty) litter box a few days before. I just kept saying "RAW DIET!" Kenai....well he smells warm and nice, but different. I haven't put a label on his smell yet. He tends to have more of a funk to him though bc he sometimes tracks through dirty things like poop and meat juice. He's special.

Now Fenton... he has grape tail, bum, legs, and body I get a whiff of grape smell anywhere from his tail, all the way up to his shoulders! Is that wierd? My girls are both the same way! They smell grapey-delicious all over, I literally can't stop smelling them. Neither can the vet. She smells and kisses my girls non-stop ;D She always says its "baby-scent" but I'm like actually it's raw-scent. Can't wait till the girls are 2 or 3 years old and still smell that delicious ;D

Mine are a bunch of grapes except Hunter, he doesn't have much of a scent at all, unless he gets his coconut oil bath (we still use hydrotherapy with him twice a week, for his spinal injury, and the oil is to prevent drying of his coat and skin)
