Right now Oreo is on a strict kibble diet. However, he does get meat as a treat now and then. When it comes to the Kibble diets. Is there a way that you can tell if they dont like there food their on?
For example one of the things that Oreo does is kick his kibble out of his food dish. Does that mean he doesnt like that spesific brand or is it a natrual thing that they do?

My guys throw kibble everywhere. That's what they consider it's used for ...they just want to know why it's not in their dig box Seriously, yes a ferret like a cat will fixate on a brand. That is why people who feed kibble usually feed a number of different kibbles, usually different brands. Just in case they can't get the brand that the little one is used to eating or if the manufacturer suddenly changes the ingredients or the shape. All these are factors that have to be taken into consideration. ciao

If you're going to feed kibble, you add some kibbles that "you" want him to eat, then you get rid of the kibbles that aren't any good for him as he gets used to the new stuff. Ferrets are very poor at making "good choices"...rather like small children. Ferrets will take the junk food rather than eat what is good for them. ciao

If feeding kibble, you should always try to offer 2-3 brands (3 preferably) in the mix so that they have a palate for different tastes. Ferrets strongly imprint on their food, and if (for whatever reason) the food isn't available/the manufacturer changes the recipe, etc etc, then you will (usually) have a very resistant ferret on your hand who refuses to eat anything else. The imprinting is a defense mechanism (so they don't eat things that are dangerous) but it definitely makes ferrets stubborn little fuzzbutts

Definitely have 2-3 kibbles you can feed regularly. Try to make 2 of them better quality if possible. One should likely be one you KNOW you can get your hands on with no problem. The reasons are listed above. I made the mistake of only feeding one kibble. The store ran out when I went to get it, and didn't get it in again for at least two weeks. Let's just say it made life interesting! NOT!!! I wound up with a ferret that I was hand feeding soup to who truly didn't want to eat it until I finally got him used to another food That was before I discovered raw

I feed kibbles and they get a plate of soup every night. They get a mix of 4 kibbles. Trust me, if they change the ingredients even the littlest bit, a ferret knows and usually will not eat it. Then you are in big trouble, like everyone said.

I actually quit feeding Evo to my cats shortly after Proctor and Gamble bought out Natura I was feeding canned, true. But since they change where they source the meats from, I simply don't trust them. And it won't be long before most, if not all, of the ingredients are changed as well They've got a bad habit of ruining perfectly good pet foods to enlarge their bottom line

I agree with Sherry. Wysong Ferret Epigen 90 is a better choice .
