That's what I thought. But she was practically yelling at me about how dumb it was to give them raw bones. But I figured if dogs aren't suppose to have cooked bones ferrets wouldn't be any different.

Explain through example Once your little guy is fully on raw, she'll see what you are talking about

That's definitely what I'll be doing. Tried the turkey yesterday and today and he hasn't ate any of it. (by the way, he was eating the chicken with no kibble.) I'm going to try the turkey with some kibble tonight and hope he eats it. He won't even try it. I also tried mixing it in with the chicken and he didn't eat either of them. Any suggestions if he doesn't eat it with the kibble?

Before adding in the kibble, try mixing a very small amount with the chicken. I know you said you tried mixing it, but keep the proportions of the turkey size smaller than the chicken, and only put in one turkey bit for say, 5 or 6 chicken bits. Chop them ahead of time, and let them sit together for an hour on the counter, or 2 or 3 hours in the fridge, so they take on the flavour of each other. Now you've finally gotten him so he'll take the chicken without the kibble, I'd like you to try to keep it out. At least for now.

Well, I was all ready to try it with kibble (without checking back here ) But decided to give it another shot with the turkey/chicken mix, which had been sitting in the fridge together for a while, and he ate it all! So today I'll try to add more turkey and see if he takes it.

Oh, fantastic He just really seems stringent on what he'll recognize as food, and what he won't. Which is why I think we need to take him as quickly through other proteins as we can. My Boris was like that as well. And just to let you know- if he didn't have a particular meat for a month or so, to him it became "new" again

of course it did. I'll have to remember that later on down the road, I'm sure. Earlier I mixed the meats with an oz of chicken and an oz of turkey and he ate it all. So we're still doing good so far.

Ok, over the next 3 or4 meals, bring him up to all turkey, then get another protein to mix in. Pork or beef would likely be the easiest to get. Just for a trial, you could also put in some chicken wing tips for him to chew on. He's still teething, so if he takes to them great!

Alright. I have beef and pork he can have. I'll have to wait to get some chicken wings or anything else until Friday on pay day though. Moving other people drained my bank account. I also had a question about the Kibble. Should I still be leaving it in his cage at night?

It depends on whether or not he's eating enough of the raw. Will he eat it if you leave it in the cage for him? If so, then you can remove it, no problem.

If I leave some of the raw in his cage over night and he will definitely eat it. I normally sleep longer than 6 hours though, so I wasn't sure if I should leave the raw in over night.

Most definitely! If it's bad, he won't eat it anyway, so no worries there. Just make sure to leave enough in to do him the night.

Tried for straight turkey the past two days, to no success. So I'd mix in a tiny bit of chicken and he'd eat it. Trying again today and he's ate some of it, so hopefully that's a sign that he'll start eating just turkey. If so I'll start trying pork soon.

What a brat!!! ;D ok, keep phasing out the chicken til it's just a bit of the blood mixed in before trying straight turkey again. If he still won't eat it, leave the turkey aside til later, and move on to the next protein. It's always possible he simply doesn't like it.

Yesterday he did pretty good with the Turkey, I don't think he really likes it though. If I added one or two small pieces of chicken he'd eat it all but if I didn't he'd hardly eat any of it - if any at all. But he did eat pretty much all of the turkey I gave him yesterday. I tried some pork this morning and he didn't fight me at all. I added just a few little pieces of chicken into the pork (without trying it plain, this far anyways.) and he ate all of the chicken/pork. Later today I"ll try just pork and see how he likes that.
I have a question on hearts. The only ones I can get my hands on (locally) are ones packed with gizzards from Walmart - Will They work? Our local grocery store only sells livers. There is a meat store in town but they are only open Tuesdays and Thursdays and unfortunately I don't have a vehicle to get there unless it's on the weekends. I don't want to have to order hearts online if I don't have to, but if the gizzards and hearts mixed from Walmart won't work, I'll find somewhere to order them.
