Are ferrets allowed to have eggs? If so, are they allowed to eat them raw out of the fridge or do they got to be cooked?

Yes ferrets can have eggs! they LOVE them!!!!!! well, some do, some don't! You can give your ferrets raw egg just like you can give your ferrets raw meat! but egg can ONLY be fed ONCE a week and they like it better if you poke the yolk and swish it around a bit. I also found they like it better if the egg is almost room temp( leave the egg out for a half hour, this will not affect the egg anything but change the temp slightly) i give my ferrets egg as a treat once a month, but people who want to can feed it once a week every week. its very good for them!

I've taken to giving my ferret 1 tiny quail egg per day. Does the 1 egg a week rule apply simply because of the volume of chicken egg given, or is it just as well to give it every day in much smaller amounts, like the quail egg would be? I'd guess maybe 5-7 quail eggs equal a big chicken egg.

I have never given mine quail eggs but I would think because of the size they would be fine speaking of eggs hard boiled eggs make great toys ! and because they are cooked the biotin album rule does not apply its fun watching them try to smash the shell ( pure calcium ) and try to eat there way in a calcium/ protein packed treat which is also fun ! take care bye for now Bev

i would fear away from letting them smash the shell, i fear a blockage!!! what if they consume a large peice of egg shell? wouldn't it not get digested???

They should be fine to break up the shell.. It's wouldn't be any different then large chunks of bone? Just messier

Yes, you can. Certainly add any part to soup As for Eggshell, some ferrets have a blast getting to the goodies on their own. Just crack the shell for th so they can get into it. And yes, the shell is no different than bone for digesting it In other words- not a problem
