Method: Turn your ferret over so he is lying along your lower arm. Gently grab his scruff. His hind quarters are tucked between your elbow and your body. Now, when scruffing this way, you MUST make sure the ferret's upper body is held at an upward angle to prevent aspiration. Even though you are only rubbing a tiny amount on the gums and tongue, it is still enough to cause this if done incorrectly. After giving the ferret a few tastes, turn them around and offer it on your finger. If they still refuse, let them go and try the entire process over again later. This method is ONLY used if your ferret is like Boris, and twists and turns consistently trying to prevent it from happening. Before attempting this, use this method instead: holisticferret60.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=switch&action=display&thread=4340

Hello! I’ve been so interested in this forum, yet English is not my first language and computers are not my strength, I am having trouble navigating and trying to understand how this page works. All I know is that I see a folder , I open it and I read and learn as much as I can, this page has been a blessing, but I don’t know how to navigate properly. My ferret Atsui has a mass on his chest, a good American friend of mine immediately said that itu was the food that was well poisoning him by making the tumor grow. He told me to go raw, so I talked to my vet and he totally agreed, talked about your page and he was impressed. There is only ONE vet in my country that watches over ferrets. We concluded since Atsui was too old, we wouldn’t do a surgery, and he sent me to buy hemp oil to the States,, Essiac trupine and animal EO sunshine in a bottle. I really need a mentor to transition. Since the moment I took out his kibble his breathing got a lot better. But I don’t know if I am doing it right. I know my baby is going to pass away soon and I NEED help. Someone help me please! I need to give him the best that I can and I just don’t know if I am doing it right. HELP HELP HELP please!!!

Hi leeandatsui Did your little one accept and eat any raw? Sometimes older ferrets will not eat pieces of raw meat at first. If atsui refuses meat then forum suggests starting on the forum soupy. Teaching you how to find information: If you look up at the top of screen, you will see Hff Website between Help and Old HFF. Click that. These are the new headings you will see across top of page after you click HFF WebsiteNEWBIE INFO ABOUT FERRETS NATURAL DIET HEALTH CARE & ENRICHMENT RESOURCES STORE MENTORING PROGRAM Click NATURAL DIET, and you will find all kind of info and drop boxes that will lead you to info on what to feed and how to feed. To expedite things for you, click this site if you need to make the soupy. holisticferretforum.com/natural-diet/raw-diet-the-meat-of-the-site/raw-soup-recipe/We will be glad to help you switch your ferret over even though the mentoring program is no longer available. Many have switched without the program, but you must follow the guidelines or ferret will lack nutrients and micro-nutrients necessary for good health. Continue to ask questions.

Essential oils are not recommended for ferrets.

Abbeytheferret thanks for replying. I don’t know if I am replying to you or the topic. I made the soupy it was hard at first but I didn’t give up, finally I manage to put it on his plate and Atsui is eating alone. I started adding little chunks of chicken breast. Must I add chunks of something else? His poop is so little and runny must I worry? I am at the sixth day of transitioning 😊 He is algo gotten very skeletal, am I feeding him too little?? He eats at 4 am, 12 am and 6pm and sometimes 9 pm - this the amount of hours he was being fed because he was only eating a tablespoon each time. Know he is eating like 4 tablespoons of the soupy. I can’t make him eat more. He just refuses!!!
Thanks for replying, helping and blessing us ❤️

Read more: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/4343/scruff-stuff-reluctant-ferret#ixzz5zIdeudb2I am going to see if someone will respond as you said your little one has a tumor on his chest and is ill. You can leave a small saucer of soupy out for 6 hours and then give him some new. He may come back in a couple hours to eat at it. You can go for 4 hours if you would rather. Try to make your soupy thick --- not to be a whole lot of water, so he will be getting the nutrients.

poohs are smaller and wetter with raw. If he had good poohs on kibble then it is probably for that reason. However you can increase the bone meal powder (or the egg powder) to 3/4 teaspoon and see if that helps.
Did he eat the breast chunks? If he eats the little chunks that would be great. Usually people will stick to the chicken and get them to eat slivers then chunks and then meaty bones(pieces of backs and wings). I divide my wings at joints and give the mid section and tip--the drumette is a little too hard for mine.

Although you may be feeding the recommended amount, it is not uncommon for masses/tumors to have a very high metabolic demand, so you may have to greatly increase the calories that your ferret gets in order to keep weight on them. One of my boys won't eat on his own, so we syringe feed him about 20mLs of food 3-4x a day. You can make the soup as normal and then scruff your ferret and aim for the roof of his mouth at about the level of his premolars (cranial to the soft palate, you should only ever hit hard palate to prevent aspiration). The runnier the soup you feed this way, the easier it is because they have to swallow as opposed to balling up the paste on their tongue and spitting it out. Best of luck!

Abbytheferret and peaceXlovexpets. Thanks for your support I’ve screened shot your suggestion and will take full attention to your advice. Thank you so much! My vet recently gave him carnivore care and it almost killed Atsui, he felt so weak and full of gas, after a few farts he felt better. His back legs are so weak, I have to hold his legs to pee and poo. He is eating with appetite. I am here on Sunday at the vet asking for a glucose test. Can I write to you the analysis???I don’t think the vet has my ferrets best interest. I don’t care about the money, if you have someone that can help me through emails, or phone I will find my way to pay for the services. I need to know I am doing that best for my boy. So many people said to put him down, if he is suffering I won’t hold him here but if there is something I can do , I’ll move heaven and earth for him. Help please My email is lillian.ulloa1@gmail.com
I still don’t know if I am replying to the topic of to someone specifically- can you teach me how to reply poperly??? Or is this ok?
Thank you for help!!! From the bottom of my heart thank you!!!!
