With one definitely, and probably two males with adrenal, I think it's a "when", not an "if"

This is what I had for Mad Max, Finasteride 2mg/ml chicken (it was mixed for a flavour, Max hated it anyway) He was to take orally 1/2 cc once daily at this dosage. Sherry, Max was my first and so far only male fuzz who suffered from prostate problems with the adrenal. I hope that you don't have to deal with it, it's really horrible for them ciao

When is enough enough? Tonight I had to express his bladder in a bathtub of water. He worried me because when you hold him, He can't stay up right and floats to his side. Of course that gets water in his ears and he will flipp over again. I ordered saw palleto. Vet didn't call. :sigh: I'm just gonna say screw it and try palleto. Dingo's still lively when his bladder isn't full. He started to come out and hang out with me while I clean up, and starts to want out of the tub after a good 20 mins of slowly expressing the gook that comes out of his bladder. ( He's in the water so not sure if he pees too. I just know his bladder gets smaller ) But he is starting to just have more down moments than uppers. The uppers being little things like rubbing across the ground to rid himself of water, or standing with me while I wipe up his accidents. The kids sneek in with him to sleep when he's not looking. Do you think if he doesn't do better with the saw palletto by the end of next month. I should do the deed and let him see monster? wow...that just brough tears to my eyes. Didn't know the little buthole meant that much to me.

The full bladder presents a lot of pain for them. It also can result in bladder infections if not emptied. Does lupron not work for him? This would be terribly uncomfortable for him ciao

From what you are describing, the "gook" coming out of his bladder is indicative of an infection already present. If it gets bad enough, that can also block the passage of urine.

You're going to have to take this boy in to see the vet. He has to get relief one way or another. If he's got a bladder infection, all he needs is some antibiotics, usually not that costly ciao

Dingo's on Lupron & Melatonin. Newest Shots early March. Started back in the spring of 10.
He also is on 1/2 of the ML needless thing of Amoxi once daily. The vet couldn't do anything for medication, or really had any imput on the issue.
Which is why I'm on here trying to figure things out. I have Saw Palletto already on order. ^.^ Just waiting for it to come in.
Update: He's feeling beter. Yay or atleast for now. I fed him soup and he followed me around durring my cleaning.

Can your vet do a culture of the bacteria in his urine? It's possible either amoxi is the wrong antibiotic, or it's simply no longer working because the bacteria has become resistant.

That is so true. One of the unfortunate things is that many bacterias are now becoming resistant ciao

1. Funky Poops- Check 2. New possible Adrenal kid- Check 3. Ferrent going nuts- Overloaded check. 1.-----I came home today to find the litter area loaded with some discolored poops. No ece stuff but not normal. I did have a head cold 2-3 weeks ago but I stayed away from the kids and used germ-x. Everyone acts fine though!!!!!!!! So stress poops are more likely but I'm glaring at the kids in a threatening manner for a bit. 2.-----Lou lou's woman areas are puffy and abnormal. I wanted to wait for the shed to be over but the crazy wild haired woman with the tie-die tea shirt shared some adrenal knoledge that made me just suck up to the idea that she really might be adrenal, and I should try lupron as a preventative. 3.-------- I'm tired. Will post show results tomorow when I get some rest. Tazz & Dirt did really good in their colors! And, I got dingo's a bed thats yellow with sail boats, and Tazz some sperm and egg toys to stash since his last two are becoming a little frazzled. Of course he tried to hide them in the tube at the show lol. I also won a rainbow bridge pouch for dingo in a raffle. Sad thoughts but it really is getting closser to the time for him. He's on his last medications, and Its starting to become more bad days than good.

Long Time no see.
Dingo's bladder has gone down in size over the past few days. He also has been peeing and not gooking. So hoping its the medicine.
I am aiming for a vet visit at the end of this week for the culture, and starting lupron for lou. But now dingo has me worried for another sign.
He litterly is just wasting away. He was skinny when I first got him but this is beyond skinny. He seems to of just lost all of his fat all at once and is now bones. He feels light as a feather when you scoop him up. So I upped his soup content and mixed in some ferretone goo, and oils. He eats alot but just is skin & bones.
I do raw now but still have kibble out for him. :sigh:
On the lighter side of things. Adrenal surgery. A do or don't? Lou just showed signs for the disease and I'm fighting whether to give it to her since she's young or too just go along with shots.

With dingo, it's possible the meds are no longer working well for him I'm sorry. For lou, it's your decision whether or not to do the surgery. Personally, I don't. But that's only after doing a fair bit of research for myself on it.

The way I see it is that adrenal has a big possibility of coming back vs not coming back. It's ether surgery- 300-400 here, and medication- 50-100 right off the back with the addition of every day meds to cover the missing adrenal. THAN have the possibility to have to go in again to get the second gland, or and than start the lupron.
Or, you do lup every 3 months at 50 + 25 for the visit. And than every six months do the Mel + lupron visit. at about 100 a ferret. I've always just got the understanding that your gonna have to do lurpon in the end. And the surgery only gives you possible a yr or two additional?
Buttt! You have to put in the factor that in those two years extra you have 1 - 2 major surgery, medication EVERYDAY, The pain from the surgery, etc. It's kind of like spending your last week in the hospital when you know your dieing. It may make you comfy but you can't spend that last week seeing the world, or talking to your freinds.
Corect me if I'm wrong! Dingo & Monny were a absolete no no. They were old, and already sick to began with. If they didn't make the surgery, I wouldn't be able to deal with the loss. Lou however is a fiesty little thing and really doesn't get depressed often. Shoot she's the queen bee. Soo she's a good candidate but I don't really know if i want to do it or not.
Dingo:
Yeah it's a very good suspission. He's been loosing fur slowly since shortly before monster passed. And his weight just started to drop. I think I finally get the thoughts on how a bonded pair end up going shortly after the other dies.
