Hey all dingo got checked out and was put on baytril. The pre med is being looked up by the newest vet who is kind of hot But bad news is that his bladder is large and firm. What would that mean?

Can you do xrays? If a secondary bladder infection occurred it may have lowered the pH in his bladder which can cause crystals or stones to precipitate. He then would have painful, difficult time expelling his bladder which would explain it being large and firm. My vet was able to see quite clearly on a standard xray when jack had stones in his bladder.

Good news and bad news. Dingos fluxide or what ever its called is on prescription. I should get it soon and be able to start him on it. Do y'all. Have any experience with it? Its a forever everyday med right? Bad news. Two days ago I caught bear dragginh dingo. I pulled them. Away thinking it was just a random act. Well this morning bear was humping poor dingo and licking him. But bear is only just 2 yrs old. Do you think I should wait till shed is over and than look at possible adrenal. Or do it now.

He could be doing it because Dingo is adrenal, not him. I know Vincent gets more aggressively playful with Sinnead a few days before her lupron is due. I'm hoping that will stop now that she has a melatonin implant.

But dingo's never shown signs other than fur loss? Bear is under fire at the moment.

It doesn't mean his odour isn't different to other ferrets, though! My vet can diagnose adrenal ferrets for the most part from the smell. If a human can do that, why not the more sensitive nose of another ferret?

Sherry, What kind of smell is it? I'm curious now if I should start Sniffing ferrets that have a chance as one of the signs.

The best description she's given, and I have smelled it myself on occasion is an almost burnt sweat sock type of smell. Rather faint to the human nose most times.

Sherry, do you think it would be significant to note that last night when TTFR came over Baby SoCo was all over Dingo trying to bite him and attempting to drag him around/out of the carrier her was in. I guess it could be the fact that Dingo sat and took it without fighting back beyond a few short barks of disapproval but after reading this I wonder now if maybe Baby SoCo was reacting to the previously mentioned Adrenal Smell... and if he was maybe Bear is too

Soco is a baby still. He was likely just looking for a wrestling partner

I don't think dingo's doing too good. I held him last night and his bladder was huge. Too the point that you touch his belly and feel the bulge of his bladder, or what ever organ. He still pee's but it's darker too. :sigh: I should be getting the prescription for the medication in today. Do you think the fluxide will help with this issue? I worry that this is the end. Dingo also was more tired durring the play date. He pretty much pooped out in my lap, or the carrier hence soco trying to drag him out. He NEVER sits in my lap. He's on amoxi every day untill I get the prescription for the meds.

I've not had to deal with this yet, so don't have any medical advice for you. Just wanted to say we'll be thinking of you and Dingo
