I brought Dexter home yesterday.. And noticed he seems to have some sort of jaw issue.. He drinks his water like a moron.. Sticks his whole face in there and SLURPS (it isn't really snorkeling, it's just like he can't open his jaw all the way to drink proper..) He eats his kibble really weird.. His head flails around and he throws it back.. His jaw doesn't open that big.. And I gave him an Nbone.. I seen videos of ferrets eating Nbones before and they can grab the whole thing, run of and work on it.. Chewing it bit by bit.. He couldn't, so I had to cut a little centimetre sized piece off for him to eat. And he still had trouble with that.. He ate it like he ate his kibble.. I also noticed when he yawns, he doesn't open his jaw fully.. Or at least it seems this way. I owned a ferret before. And she ate, yawned, and drank more "normal" than he seems to be.. Is this something I should be worried about?

I'm hoping Heather will pop on here shortly. If I remember correctly, she has a ferret with jaw abnormalities. It seems to be the genetic of breeding for fancies, which a panda is.

Oh, not another poor wee one. Is it a marshal's fuzz? I've seen 2 or 3 now...maybe even a couple more. The skull is deformed not allowing the jaw to hinge properly. Take him to the vet for confirmation (if you're going to try and get a refund or switch out from marshals this has to be done anyway ). Boris cannot close his jaw, a wee one that I met a few years ago, like your little one, couldn't open his mouth even to eat his kibbles. His person had to break up his kibbles and she was advised by the vet that eventually arthritis would seize the jaw entirely and he would have to be syringe fed. She and I were discussing diet because he was getting so thin. It was too tiresome and painful for him to eat on his own. There is no good outcome of these little ones. They age prematurely. If this is a newly purchased fuzz you might want to save yourself some heartbreak (I'm not telling you to do this, I would keep the fuzz but I'm sure that no one would fault you if you took him back) If this is a rescue be forewarned, the jaw opening continues to get narrower as the jaw appears to seize up. I've noticed that this year though Boris cannot close his mouth, because the jaw is sticking out farther than the top, he has some difficulty in eating whole meats and I've had to start feeding him ground. He still steals the meats but he seems to eat less of it. I feel like a harbinger of bad news The only way to know for sure it to take your little one to the vet. I had to get Boris xrayed but the bone malformation was there for all to see Good luck and keep us posted ciao

This isn't fair, this isn't fair at all.. It's not fair that we put animals through this We want "pretty" colours and coat patterns so we massbreed them... And now innocent lives have to suffer. How do you even justify that?

He acts like he's got something stuck in his mouth! That's what mine do when they get a bit of bone they can't clear easily on their own.

He does this everytime he eats. He can't even open his mouth properly when he yaws. I hate people. Why do we do this to innocent animals?..
