Thanks Candice! And Keri that is funny. MY roommate actually had a black and white spotted Hamster that I named Moo-Cow. She was a breeder hamster (who was retired to a nice family after her third litter) so it made me laugh for many reasons. One, she was black/white like a cow - very similar spot pattern, two she was always fat (from babies, post-baby fat, and just a fat little hamster in general - she is my Hamlet's mommy), and lastly because she was producing babies...she was also producing milk. ;D I found the name highly appropriate, but my roommate just gave me the look.

Do you breed yours for color at all? I often hold back "pretty" mice just to see what they produce, my favorite right now is a little gray female, with tan and white on her belly. And I always have a brindle male, they are fatties but I like the color. I recently left a litter alone (was going to feed off the whole tank) and am happy I did, a lot of cool patterns and colors in there.

That is the reason I got these little guys instead of the much much cheaper mice from PetCo that are all same-old-same-old black, white, or brown.

Yeah around here all I could get was white or brown. I started hitting pet stores anytime we went out of town for different colored ones, and even had my mom pick up a male when she was traveling once!
