I try and keep raw in the cage 24/7 now. They always have chicken wings or chunks of meat in the cage. When its gone I always put more in. as for the soups thing they will eat my soup for up to 8-12 hours after I make it. We live in a very dry heat kind of place and we always leave the air on for them. So maybe because of they dry air and my blender sucks and the soup always has big slivers and is super thick has something to do with why it last long. All the meat tends to last longer for me here. They have never gotten sick from it and if it wasn't good they wouldn't eat it. They have never been underfed or not fed in their life so I am guessing its fine.

Sounds great then! I wouldn't worry too much about hooligan. It could be nothing but some depression and maybe boredom. He is a bit older and might just be lazy. I hope I didn't freak you out too much I just want to be careful in case he is in early stages, ya know?
You're doing an amazing job BTW - just wanted to let you know.
How is everyone else doing with the raw?

They are doing so well! I couldn't ask for better fuzz butts. They are eating bone, eggs, chicken, turkey, beef, liver, gizzards and egg shell in their soup. They love the olive oil now. They only one that doesn't like the olive oil is Edward. We named the new baby Jet. Me and my husband really like anime and we love the Cowboy Bebop Anime and he reminded us of the one of the characters. He is big and tuff he know how to fight but he is a super sweet softie. We also named Edward and our puppy after characters from that show ;D ;D ;D Can you tell how much we like it. If your into that kind of thing you should check it out. Plus Jet is just a cute name and it fit him to the T. He is eating everything I give him like a piggy which i love! He is not picky he doesn't care what kind of meat as long as its meat.

when I go shopping this weekend I will look for them. Walmart only seems to have them around Christmas. The stool looked a little green and grainy like you said but I am sure Its from olive oil and not having pumpkin. I am buying that too if I cant find it Ill get the squash baby food like you said. I have their menu of everything they need in the week hung up and I make sure to check it two times a day to make sure they get what they need. plus how much olive oil and pumpkin they need is on there too. I also am going the find hearts or buy the taurine supplement this week.

I got the squash. Their poop already looks better. Can squash be used just like pumpkin or do I still need to buy the pumpkin? I got them lamb meat and pork neck bones to try. As of now jet is the only one that likes the lamb. I think He takes more to red meat or he is just a fatty and wants to eat everything. Everyone loves taking their olive oil and squash. Jet is bigger then Edward he shot up like a weed in just a week. Its crazy how fast he is growing Igor didn't grow that fast It must be the raw that's doing it to him. Everything is going well everyone is happy. I even caught Hooligan chewing on some chicken so he must be doing it when I am not looking but he is still not taking it from me. But now we know we can get him there. We are taking him to the vet next week for a check up to see if everything checks out or not. I hope everything will turn out fine.

Yep, the squash can be used just like pumpkin. I find giving it daily definitely helps the stools, especially on boneless days Lamb is a great meat - very gentle on the stomach glad at least one is eating it. You could try slicing it thin and mixing the lamb in with the other meats they already like. Or you could make some lamb soup and pour it over some meats they really like, to get them used to the flavor. I hope everything turns out okay at the vet. How's his activity level? You might see some great improvements in energy on the raw

We let the ferrets in our room for the first time and hooligan explored quite a bit longer then when they just run around the house. I think It must be stress and or he is sick because he doesn't play with Igor anymore. He isn't losing weight at all. I make sure there is meat in the cage 24/7 and that I hand feed him twice a day. But for sure we are still going to the vet. Plus he bit my husband Daniel last night and he is not a biter. all I know was that Daniel was trying to feed him and he had his favorite toy in his other hand. Its not for me to say if it was out of spite that he couldn't have it or if it was aggression. But he didn't bite the hand with the toy in it. He wasn't even holding him. He just walked on to Daniels lap and bit him. Can the neck bone be used as a bone in or is the bone too hard for them? Should I crush it with a hammer? I noticed they don't eat all the chicken bones and quite a bit of bone is left if i brake it up or not should I be worried they are not getting all they need. I am still looking for those small hens.

Hello today I think It must be stress and or he is sick because he doesn't play with Igor anymore. Yeah, definitely sounds like he needs a checkup. Fingers crossed everything checks out okay. Getting some Bach's rescue remedy for pets might help quite a bit, especially if he is depressed. He isn't losing weight at all. I make sure there is meat in the cage 24/7 and that I hand feed him twice a day. That's a good sign, and the hand feeding will help keep the weight on and prevent him from losing weight. If he starts refusing to eat, it's a sign he needs to go to the vet ASAP. Has he been showing any signs of pain? Grinding his teeth, pawing at his mouth? What about shaking excessively? Can the neck bone be used as a bone in or is the bone too hard for them? Should I crush it with a hammer? They're most likely too hard. You can try crushing them and see if they go for it, but from my experience they don't really touch them. I noticed they don't eat all the chicken bones and quite a bit of bone is left if i brake it up or not should I be worried they are not getting all they need. Which chicken bones are we talking about? Chicken wing bones they shouldn't have any problems with. Legs and thighs are a bit thicker. Ribs, backs, and necks of chicken should all be very easily consumed. They could just be lazy and not finished their bones. So the bone is left even when you crush it? That seems like laziness. I would give a couple days of only bone in meats and see if that helps. How do their stools look? I am still looking for those small hens. At Walmart I found mine in the freezer doors by the meat section.

Hooligan is playing again. when I think about it He has been through a lot this last 7 months. I moved in he got three new friends and a new cage in a new place. That would be stressful on anyone I think I will wait till I got to the vet to get the Bach's rescue remedy for pets. To see what the vet thinks. The only day I could get is this Saturday this week. I just used the pork as boneless meat. Igor liked chewing on the bones. I don't think he got much bone but at least he was cleaning his teeth. lol Oh and the dog loves their left overs. lol They also had some lamb soup mixed with some chicken. They liked it a little better this time I think. I am working on putting different meats in their diet. I think I will try some pinkies next week. Poop is still a little green but the graininess is going away. I am going away for four days next week so I think I will have all 8 meals defrosting and in the refrigerator for the person when I leave I am going to right out instructions for feeding and care. I think I will also right the day and time of the food that should be given on the bags they are in. Is there any other things I should cover? should I give him any don'ts? He has been around them and played with them but he doesn't really know about feeding. Plus I will be calling to check in everyday. I think I am doing good every one Is fat and happy. I will work with Hooligan more with raw chunks after we see whats going on with him. I don't want to put him under anymore stress. Any questions for me? Its been a busy week sorry I haven't posted Jakie!

Pork bones are too dense for my kids too They also had some lamb soup mixed with some chicken. They liked it a little better this time I think. I am working on putting different meats in their diet. I think I will try some pinkies next week. That's great! The lamb is a really good meat, very gentle. Let me know when you get some pinkies! Yay! Poop is still a little green but the graininess is going away. You will see that - they are going through a huge adjustment. Are you adding pumpkin daily? That usually helps a lot I am going away for four days next week so I think I will have all 8 meals defrosting and in the refrigerator for the person when I leave I am going to right out instructions for feeding and care. That is a good idea. think I will also right the day and time of the food that should be given on the bags they are in. Is there any other things I should cover? should I give him any don'ts? Maybe have some soups he can defrost in case anyone stops eating for whatever reason. Soups are always easy to feed. Do you have any freeze dried? I would also ask him to restrict play time to ONLY surpervised play. They could get into something and he have no idea. He has been around them and played with them but he doesn't really know about feeding. Plus I will be calling to check in everyday. What a good ferret momma! I think I am doing good every one Is fat and happy. I will work with Hooligan more with raw chunks after we see whats going on with him. I don't want to put him under anymore stress. That's great Have you slipped any raw slivers into his soups? Can you make me a menu of what the others besides Hooligan eat every week. Just wanna make sure they're getting everything they need. Just a basic Mon: AM chicken bone in PM Pork bone out etc etc.
