Sorry about the late response! We have had a family situation going on here. To answer your question the ground I am feeding is commercial ground with no fruit or veggies added. Just meat, organ, and bone. Not sure if it includes heart. Also I was going to try them on wings tonight but when I got them out of the fridge they were spoiled. I just bought them yesterday. I guess I will be back to the store tomorrow. I will also take your advice and tweak my menu a bit. I have some chicken livers but am unsure how many to give them? Also should I give them whole or cut up? Sorry again for the late post!

Ok, so they are getting 8 meals of commercial raw. What brand are you using? That way, I can check it out for you to see what all they include If they DO have a full complement of heart/bone/organ, it will modify what you will need to give otherwise. Tentatively, I'm going to say 1/2 serving of livers for now. So, one liver between the two ferrets. Try chopping it up a bit, see if they'll eat it that way. Also, any way you can introduce a new protein? Even just turkey or beef chunks would be good.

I did start them on beef chunks last week and they ate it no problem. I am going to start them on whole ground rabbit today and see how they like that and tomorrow I will try giving the chicken wings. The ground raw I get is from a local place here in Austin. It is called S.A.D dog sushi. I get the complete rolls with bone.

Well they would not touch the rabbit. Do you think I should try mixing it with another ground meat they like?

Sorry- I've been ill, and not as attentive as I should have been! I can't find the "complete rolls with bone" on their site ;D Probably because my mind isn't working quite as well as it should at the moment! But from what I did find there, they look pretty good Fantastic about the beef chunks As for the rabbit grind, you can certainly try mixing it with another. Start out with only about 1/4 of the rabbit to 3/4 of the favoured meat and work up from there. You may never get them to accept full rabbit, but that's ok. Even 1/2 and 1/2, they are still getting another protein

I'm sorry you are ill! I hope you feel better soon. Well I tried mixing the rabbit and chicken tonight so we will see how much they eat by morning. Also I sent my husband to the store to buy chicken wings today but he came back with chicken wing drummettes. Can I feed these to them or should I go back and buy actual chicken wings? I still have not tried chicken wings with them so I am unsure if these drummettes will be too much of a jump for them. If I can feed them is there any special preperation or just the same as regular chicken wings?

Yes, you can try those. Slash the meat really well so they can get a good grip on it, and you may want to take either a hammer, mallet, or even a cleaver and smash them up really well. Let me know how they do with them!

Well tried the chicken wings and they ate it up! They left a few pieces of bone but not much. I am very surprised. I thought they would at least have some reservations! Next time do you think I should try just giving them the whole thing without smashing it up and see how they do? Also I have noticed their stool is very small and liquid. It is hard to see in their litter box because it is so small! I know their poops will be smaller and not as firm from eating meat but this seems really small. Today Luna pooped on the floor and it looked like a short piece of semi thick yarn. Is this normal?

Yes, those types of stools are completely normal Nice change, eh ;D ? As for the wings, try just smashing up the larger drumette bone, see how they do with that.

Yes the stool change is great! They are doing really well on the smashed chicken wing drummette. What should my next step be? I am going grocery shopping on sunday and was thinking about getting some quail if they have it.

Time for a different protein Quail is a good one if you can get it. Pork, turkey, beef, anything you can easily get.

Well no luck with the quail. I guess I will have to shop around a bit. I was so pre occupied with finding quail that I totally forgot to look for turkey! Oh well, I can get some next time. Also I have been reading that some people feed egg. Do you feed the whole egg? Do they need egg? They are eating the rabbit now, but other than that there is no new news. Hope all is well!

Some of mine like egg- some don't. You don't need to feed it if you don't want to. If you'd like to give it a shot, just break an egg on a saucer and scramble it up. You CAN give it whole, with a crack so they can smell what's inside, but it does get a little messy ;D Let me know what they think of the turkey!

Getting turkey tomorrow! I will let you know how it goes. If I get quail do I just feed them the whole thing or do I need to smash up the bones?

I'd try giving them the whole thing, see what they do with it. You can always cut it up if they are too unsure. And I'll be interested in how they do with the turkey! Glad you are introducing another protein- don't want them just imprinting on chicken
