You can use a carpet or utility knife to cut the black drainage tube.

My ferrets have a rice dig box in their cage too, I rotate it in there for a month or two at a time. They love it. It is Finn's preferred sleeping spot lately, he always sleeps in there on his back on the rice ;D The rice must be a comfortable sleeping surface. On chilly nights Fenton and Fiona curl up beside or on top of him in the dig box It seems like the rice makes them smell fresher... a little bit...

I agree Mikey. I use Jasmine rice and it makes them smell nice mine spent the first few days burying their heads and dancing in it, but now it's become their favorite litter box . I'd rather they sleep in it than that! ;D

I have always tapped mine until they become unmanageable....save the ends that are on the colored ones and then reuse them...they should fit on most 4" tubing I think. I definitely find the hard ones last longer though. wish we had a ronas to get the 100' that would be awesome!! tubing is so fun!!
I had to get rid of my rice bin as my kitten thought it was a litter box, the hole was big enough for her to get in and out easily!! LOL I figure once she is full grown i will splurge and buy them more rice ti fill it again!!

You could always try adding a foot or so of drainage piping. Or would she go through that as well?

I use the 4" drainage tubes as well. I use either a hacksaw, utility knife, or tin snips to cut them. I have to go to Lowe's to get more now, since hanging my last two sections from the ceiling. Tink and Peanut like to climb on top of the cages and it's a decent drop if they fall, so I secured sections of tunnel to the top of their cages leading to ground level. Now to get more linoleum to cover the tops of the cages...

I got a 10 foot long ( clear tube with white reinforcing) 5 inch diameter at a yard sale for $5 - it came off a leaf vacuum - its smooth inside so I was NOT able to use it inside the fn to connect the two levels . I looked into dust collestor tubes on ebay $55 for 20 feet - did not buy. I like watching them in the clear tube but I want it to last - are there any heavy duty clear tubes?
