I cant believe I just typed it all out then it dissapeared I do take my fuzzies out with mixed reactions. Kids seem to love them. Its my families reactions that takes all the joy out of having my new pets. I was so excited about getting them I didnt even think other people wouldnt like them. My sister makes noises like shes being sick everytime I talk about them on the phone and my mother in law has come to stay for a while and her first encounter with them was one ran up her trouser leg and bit her calf ( ok I can see why shes not confident around them) so now everytime they come into the room she leaves. Im just sad I cant share in the joy of my pets with some of my family and Im sad for them because noone like them Im just soft that way.

When someone like your sister makes comments or "noises" like that, I tend to get a little....testy ;D My former boss made something along the lines of "why do you spend so much money at a vet on those rodents?" Back up immediately, fired back, "and why did YOU spend so much money at the vet on that excuse you call a dog?". Not in the best taste, but she stopped with the comments ;D

Lets see...How do people act around my guys? With Monster, Big sable love bug, All the girls would flock and love on him. The bigger chested girls got the most lovin. ;D Monster loved hooter girls as they were always at the car shows we would go to. I had a flock of them come by and well..lean over. Boy did Monny go nutso. And with everyone else, I get a mix of "oh cute!" "What do they eat?" I always tell them they are strict carnivors and my guys are raw fed. Than I always sneek in, They don't stink do they? it's from their diet. Boy do I miss my monster though. He was a trip with the girls. Hopefully I'll get to take tazzie, my new public kid, to see santa this year.

I've noticed its becoming way easier to walk Mika now. I've been taking her out twice a day, 15 mins in the morning and 30-45 mins at night. Before she would struggle like crazy while I was trying to put the harness on and go nuts, but now she waits nice and patient while I put it on and get ready to go out. Sometimes she plops on her back and just stares up at me waiting haha. Guess she learned that when I put the harness on she gets to go out for sure so there's no need to freak out.
I think she's also learning there's no use in fighting a tense line (I have her on a 15 foot retractable leash) so we can actually cover quite a bit of distance. I keep her away from things like the base of trees and plants, and grass that might have dog crap on it. Seems to be going a lot more with the flow now instead of fighting it in directions I don't wanna go.
Is too much pavement bad? She usually has the option to walk on it or the grass next to the sidewalk and seems to choose either about 50/50. I suppose if it hurt her she would choose the grass route more often. I haven't had to cut her back feet nails for a long time now, but they've been quite worn down close to the nail vein for awhile on all nails. Front nails are still needing to be cut as much as usual or a little less. I take her out between 3-5 hours per week I'd say.

My very first ferret was Dexy.. I came home and was sooooo excited about having her, I'd been saving up for weeks! I posted a pic of her on my facebook and almost every reply was "ew, ferrets stink" My sister at first was super curious about them, and she thought Dexy was sooooo adorable, but then Dexy bit her and now she hates all ferrets. My sister is like that, though. My dad thinks they're hilarious. I take them out into the living room every so often because there's more room to run around. He'll stand in the hallway and watch them, calling them "F'n lunatics!" It took my mom awhile to warm up to them. Dexy is still nippy, but Trinity is a sweetheart. My mom will come in here and pick Trinity up and snuggle her. She calls Dexy "The beast", though Pretty much everyone else I know wants nothing to do with them. They are all set in thinking that ferrets are stinky, overgrown rats. Trinity is my "public relations fert" (love that term, Heather ), and if I'm going to be taking one out in public, she's the one. Because she's deaf, she's less jumpy around loud noises. She's never bitten anyone and is all around just a sweet girl. Kids LOVE her.. there's a large park near my house I like to go to, and now and then there's youngsters there who are completely enthralled with her. My best friend doesn't quite understand my love of ferrets, but he at least appreciates it and lets me bombard him with pictures and videos.

People love Blake and think he's adorable. Given where I am not many people have seen them in person. They always have a lot of questions and since Blake is really calm and laid back I allow people to pet him. Kids really like them. Jackie your son is right. Ferret's are chick magnets. I can't tell you how many women have stopped to talk about him and love on him. ^_^
Huck was my "attack ferret". I never let people I didn't absolutely trust handle him. Even though he wasn't a really big nipper. I made him seem more ferocious than he was so my nephews would stay away from me when I was holding him. That and I didn't want him to be running around and my oldest to think it was alright to pick him up and end up getting nipped.
My mother in law is afraid of any animal that isn't a dog, but she's warming up to Blake now. My dad isn't an animal guy. If it isn't a fish, he doesn't want it.
My sister and my mother like them and call them their nephews/grandsons.
All in all people around me like ferrets and are really curious about them.
We went to Petco today and the people inside didn't know what they were and the people who worked there were surprised to see one.

I've gotten a wide range of reactions to my fuzzies when they've been out. I've officaly dubbed my big boy Richard my public relations ferret. He's big, super soft and a megga cuddler. Slink is a close second at super instant love please play with me attitude. Her pouncing and dancing is cute but tends to make people nervous. Since I don't want to risk an acidential play nip I usually try and avoid it. When I run into rat people I give them the ryme. Actually their more like a cat than they are a rat. In fact if they find a rat in your house they'll catch and eat it just like your cat. It usually gets understanding nods or "Ohhhhh I didn't know that." I've had quite a few people wanting to pet and I'll usually offer Richard pretty quickly. It helps that he's a big kisser. Although it did once a frightened response that he was tasting someone. His laid back manor really surprises people. I get a lot of surprised comments that they always heard ferrets smell or that they bite. To which I usually remind them a dog can bite them to and just like a puppy a ferret can be tought that nipping is bad.

It surprises me how people can be so afraid of a viciously cute two pound animal, but if you can be afraid of spiders anything is possible.

I get mixed reactions, most people don't understand my obsession... alot of people ask how my "rodents" are doing. Most people when they see them though love to pet them.. all of my ferrets smell great and look great so usually the first thing I hear is "Omg they don't stink!"
The area I live in is kind of ... hmm.. hillbilly-ish lol they dont treat their animals the same way I do. They would rather put a pet down than spend 100 bucks on them.. they dont vaccinate (I always vaccinate my dogs) they let them run wild.. they are covered in fleas and ticks... so they dont understand, and thats fine. If I know they will make fun of me or give me crap about it, I just ignore them.
