Fleas!

So, I've discovered a flea on our littlest girl. We use Frontline on our cats and dog, but nothing on our furbies. I checked everyone and only found the one, and I haven't gotten any bites (and I'm a flea magnet) so I'm assuming that it was carried in by the dog or one of us and found a home on a furbie.
I'm vacuuming and cleaning their cage, toys, and bedding but what do I do for the furbies? I called the vet and he said I could use the lowest kitten dose of advantage, but I've had a kitten have a drooling/vomiting reaction when she accidentally licked it off. And as we know, furbies can turn their heads 360 degrees, so I'm hesitant to use it because I'm afraid they'll be able to lick it off.
I did find a recipe on here of leaving a scored lemon in boiling water overnight, but then what do I do with the water? Do I spray it on them? I thought essential essences were a no-no. How often can/should I use the lemon water.
Anyone know?

Hey,
I'm not sure about the lemon... last year when my fuzzies got fleas I gave them all a bath and spend a while combing them out with a flea comb... It seemed to do the trick... I didnt have to use any of these flea treatments- I think frontline and similar products are very harsh chemicals so your right to use it with caution.
and your doing the right thing by cleaning all their bedding and cage, it probably was just a flea that the dog brought in if non of your other furkids have got any. Make sure you wash it at a hot temp to make sure u kill any flea eggs.
I would just give them all a really good comb with a flea comb at this stage... if you find some more hopefully someone can share a safe flea treatment for you.

Truthfully, I wouldn't worry about it. You can do the lemon thing (you use it to spray on their bedding, your floors (it's not an EO). If your other furkids are treated, use a comb and some soap for a few weeks and see if you get more off the fuzzies. If they're raw fed, I bet you don't or at least not very many. The last time I had fleas in the house (got to love doing rescue ) I treated my one cat (his immune system was compromised and he was sickly, not the best thing to do but the little blood suckers seemed to prefer him), treated the dog...left the other 3 cats and the fuzzies. Used a flea comb on the brats every night when I put them to bed. In a month, there was nothing. Checked every couple of weeks after that still nothing. Eventually stopped. Didn't retreat the cat or the dog. I don't like using chemicals unless there is no way around it ciao

My girls had a pretty bad flea infestation about 3 weeks ago. I washed bedding, have them a dawn dish soap bath, and picked fleas out 2x a day. After 2 weeks they were all gone.
If you cannot get rid of them, you can use revolution (I use the adult cat) and split it between 2-3 fuzz, depending on weight.

I prefer the bath and flea comb method, although I have never seen more than one flea, like you have. I am sure I would get the revolution if it became a big problem I have not heard of the lemon idea before, if you try it I am interested to know how it works out
