Sam is my boyfriend's parents' dog that I have gotten to like and know well the last 2 years. He is 14 years old, and it's his time to go. In two days we are going to say goodbye. Then he will be put down. It's best, I know. But I will miss him, as we sit for him often and he is a very very loving dog. I love you Sam. I wish we could have played more...I'll post once again when he has been put to sleep.

Do not grieve for him for it's not something he would have wanted. Celebrate his life for that has been long. A dog lives only to please and to love, your heartbreak is not something he would want. You are giving the most generous gift of all, the gift of release. I will light a candle to give you strength and offer comfort. ciao

Heather is right. Your lovely pup would have wanted you to be happy, and await the times you will see one another again at the bridge. He loves you and all that you have given him including giving him his freedom. I know it must hurt and be hard, and I am so sorry for your loss. Give that pup a big old hug for us before he goes on his journey
