Not sure about when most of the info was written, but it was copyrighted in 1997. I can't view enough pages at amazon to know just how valid it still is with what's known today about the ferret diseases. We've come a long way in the last 14 years with some of them.

From what I could read of it(it restricts quite a few pages), it seems pretty good. If I remember correctly, the author is renowned for his work on ferret pathology. My only complaint is his statement in that book that "diets for ferrets should in part contain a dry pelleted feed" for good dental care.

I have that book, and it's a good reference for learning about ferret illnesses, but much of the information is pretty dated (especially with regard to treatments) I have the second edition, and it even mentions the use of lysodren for adrenal . A LOT has changed ince this book was written, but if you're interested in ferret medical issues, it's not a bad book. Be aware that it is a veterinary text, so it's not easy reading if you're not accustomed to reading medical publications. -jennifer

Look instead for Ferrets for Dummies second edition, or the Animal Planet Ferrets book. Ferrets for Dummies is much logner and more thorough though.

I already own both of those plus the picture I posted. I bought the one I just posted about at one of my local clubs fundraisers so I was wondering about it.
