"Mine just eat it. You can mix tone or whatever they like into it. But that's the base ingredient in most laxes. How are his poops? If he's been having some good, large orange poops from the pumpkin, he should hopefully be good."
Sherry, Bastien's poops have been odd... he's been dropping little poops - like about 1/2 inch long. After the pumpkin and lax, they've been a little more normal but still thin. They have been orange so I know at least some of the pumpkin is getting through... He hasn't been eating much but other than that he seems fine - hard to tell really since all he ever does is sleep! Last night, after pumpkin, I could actually see his stomach muscles contracting but not tonight

It sounds like it could be a partial blockage. Keep pushing the pumpkin every two to three hours, and alternate with vaseline or a vas. based lax. Also try to keep him hydrated. This can turn so fast. You should also be calling the vet if you don't see some good large poops from the pumpkin.

How long have his poops been like this by the way?

I went to see where he went and he left me a present.... and of course Damia had to check it out There are times when his lack of litterbox habits come in handy anyway... this looks better...

his poops started looking really thin early this week (at the time I wasn't sure they were his) they started getting short and dark Wednesday.

Things are definitely moving! Gotta love spending Friday night sitting around posting pictures of poop! (Thank you Steve Jobs...RIP)

I think I'd keep pushing pumpkin for a day or so to be safe. A pumpkin poop should be larger than that, since none of it is digestible.

Would you recommend vet visit? I can't decide if I will worry more if I don't take him or if I spend the money for no reason (I'm so tired of being broke!)

How often have you pushed vaseline and pumpkin so far and is this all that has come out? ciao

he's only had vaseline once. He's had pumpkin 3 or 4 times tonight. He has pooped more - just little bits at a time. No big poops. I just gave him more pumpkin.

It does appear to be moving....I would be tempted to try vaseline again and see what happens. I don't like the stuff but it does move blockages well if they're going to be moved ciao

I think I will try giving him some more now and then see how he's does. It's about four hours past my bedtime (TGIF) so I'm going to try to get some sleep and pray that things move along in the next few hours!
Thanks for all of the advice. I will update later.

Ok now that I'm breathing again, I can update. Bastien seems fine this morning - he was waiting for me at the door and running around waiting for breakfast. He actually ate some on his own (breakfast has never been his thing and I almost always have to hand feed him ) Did not find any giant pumpkin poops but a lot of smaller ones. I gave him about 1/2 teaspoon of vaseline with a little lax mixed in about 30 minutes ago so I'm going to see what happens in the next couple of hours (Vets office is open til noon).
