I've actually seen both Suki and Vincent cage biting and digging in the litter box, stop and look to see if anyone noticed. Go back at it, stop and look. HAHA, you gotta love when they look you right in the eye and go do trouble! Pandora used to do this with water bowl flipping all the time. I had one who would scratch at their door, keep in mind these ferrets weren't caged, had their own room, but 2am they thought was great playtime and would throw themselves against the plexi gate, which makes a loving thumping noise to get me to go in there, he taught that trick to a few others too! The other day I was cleaning and carefully managed to keep my arm out of reach of Pandora's teeth, she hates it when I mop and always bites me, next thing I know she's chomping my ankle instead. It's a wonder we like these ornery weasels at all. ;D

Yah, really....why do we love them with such intensity They pee and poop where ever they please. They bite, scratch and poof (well some of them do ) They stink. They don't come when they're called, they behave like spoiled brats, they dump their litter boxes, swim in their water bowls (and other furkids water too). Everything is theirs, your cell phone, remotes, shoes, insoles and socks. They hide their treasure, create fert jerky, steal your drawers, destroy your furniture (sofa???think about it), terrorize the rest of the household pets. They are the worst of the worst for being a "me" and only Me....so...why do we put up with this. Why do we sit up through late nights, hand feeding, syringe feeding, worrying, paying astronomical vet bills (outrageous vet bills), spending hours at a time researching diseases, symptoms and remedies. For what, a gentle nuzzle, a sweet kiss, soft snuggle....we can get that from our dogs who will worship the ground we walk on for half what we do for these ungrateful little fuzzes. Why? Because we would sell our souls to share 1 minute, 1 hour to live as they do, totally selfishly for themselves. To live just one second for the moment, not to worry about what's going to happen next. To be able to throw ourselves into total abandonment and live just for the moment. We are thankful that these wee creatures, so close to being wild are willing to share their time, their lives to relieve us from our own troubles stresses and boredom and are willing to love us despite all the horrible things we do to them. Just my opinion of course ciao

You are absolutely correct there Heather. And the fact that we are so heavily involved in every aspect of their lives. Cats, while they want us, can generally make their "own" way in the world. Dogs, while they need us, if push comes to shove, can probably do the same. But ferrets? Without us- they die. It's that simple, and that complex.

If you want it to be safe, maybe you could make a dutch door O.O put a platform on the bottom half for the cats to jump up on, and make it high enough so the ferrets cannot climb it it takes some work but it is worth it!

I was wondering about that. Artie just threatened to pee in the corner unless I played with him. I wasn't sure if it was a false alarm instead. I hadn't played with him much today, so we played a little and he went to sleep. You will never see cats or dogs use this tactic. Little kids, yes. It's all good. Ferrets rule.
