Someone I know hunts deer and I was offered the lefovers. Im wondering if its safe to feed kidney, brains, eyes, hooves etc. to the cats, dog and ferrets. Is there any parts that are not safe to feed?

Most definitely safe! Only thing I'd do is freeze it in a deep freezer for 3 weeks or so, or in a fridge top freezer for a couple of months. That will kill any parasites that may be present. And no- there's no part they can't have from an animal Only thing I'd watch is that the hooves don't become dry and brittle. But then- the same thing goes for old stashes of bone

I will get all the leftovers then. I was also just offered a whole deer as long as I pay for a licence which is like $30. So I will get a whole deer for $30.

Is CWD an issue where you live? I know it collects in brain, eyes, spinal cord, spleen and they recommend not eating those parts, you can have the meat tested but it takes a bit. Was something I have been checking into as I'm planning to try to hunt this year and even if I don't get one I have the same deal as you, if I buy a tag and someone gets an extra I can have it.

I have no idea what that even is. Should I just not feed those parts? Can it be killed my freezing? What parts are for sure safe?

Oh, never even thought of that! Chronic Wasting Disease(CWD) is nothing to fool around with. Can you check around and see if it's been active in your area? www.cwd-info.org/index.php/fuseaction/about.mainAnd no, freezing will not destroy it. Not much does I understand. It's the deer/elk version of mad cow disease(BSE)

I think I just wont feed the parts that are affected. Can I get a list of things that are safe?

Generally it's the brain and spinal column. But things like the eyes make sense, given the direct connection with the brain. Here's what the info from the above article says on it: do not consume brain or spinal cord tissues, eyes, spleen, or lymph nodes
