I've heard many people suggest using a kong for the ferrets that love to chew aka my Booth.
I bought a puppy kong (black) for my ferrets. I know they make a ferret kong but heard rumors that they can easily nibble off the end causing blockages.
Anyways, I let them play with it but I check it daily.
I've considered doing as one person suggested and putting baby food inside it and freezing it. Then give it to my chewer. But I would have to put it in their cage. What do you think? Maybe I could do that when I am home only, as I do not feel safe having most toys in their cage with my chewer.

Kongs last about 5 minutes with my lot before they manage to split the top so it's very easy for them to be able to eat parts of it.

Minion went through one that the kittens had in about 2 days. It was wrapped in canvas. I didn't think he could damage it but he did. I would be very careful about getting them to chew on it on their own, much less stuffing it and enticing them to chew on it. JMO ciao

It's really hard dealing with a chewer, and I know some people do use the dog kongs for their ferrets- but to me it's too much of a risk for blockage. All it would take is for him to chew a small bit off over time.

I've come up with a stupidly-simple approach to determining what's safe for my ferrets and what isn't: If it worries you enough to post about it... it's not ferret-safe.

Hm, alright. As I said, it's usually just a supervised toy only and I didn't know if the dog kongs were any better than the ferret kong.
Thank you for the in-put. Onto another option.

Maybe try some homemade gelatin treats? Nice and chewy I let Pixie have tennis balls (the small mini ones). Supervised only though

Do keep a very close eye on even the dog kongs. My wolfhound has the biggest kong made...the ferrets broke just the edge..enough to cause a blockage. No, I don't consider a kong a safe toy to leave with a ferret. ciao

I don't use them. Carpetsharks has a good rule of thumb. If it worries you, don't use it! One toy that my ferret cannot destroy (I do let him have SUPERVISED play with it) is a toy called "nobbly wobbly. I buy the small ones and I tie a string around one of the loops. I know many ferret owners that use these toys for their ferrets and it is pretty hard. But, like I said, I let him have supervised play with it. Then I put it away.

Is that what those are ;D. Captain Jack loves those, he's got one that lights up and another couple that look just like that. He's only allowed to have them when he's on our laps snuggling because he tears into them terribly. He used to climb up on the desk to steal them (he can't get up on chairs anymore...heart problems make it really difficult to climb ) ciao

Yes. They are called Nobbly Wobblys! Lol. Sonny loves them. I can't find the ones that light up but I know several people that have those for their ferrets. They are pretty hard to destroy. Sonny has jaws of steel & he has not managed to destroy any of them.
