sounds like a blockage. if you let him into the rest of the house he may have gotten into something that was not ferret proofed and swallowed something he wasn't supposed to. check all the rooms. check all rubber items, wires, toys, fabrics, etc. i would take him to the vet ASAP. these blockages can get really ugly an d really fast. he is probably dehydrated. throwing up and not eating is never a good sign and IMO almost always a blockage or something far worse. i hate to be dramatic but it's true. i hope you can get him in for a barium x-ray asap. do not let your ferret run around the house 24/7 unsupervised. ferret proofing is an ongoing thing. my ferret has free run when i'm home and can keep an eye on him. the rest of the time he is confined to the bedroom which is the most ferret proofed room in the house. you are never "ferret proofed" enough. for example, look what happened to me yesterday-- i caught my ferret eating brown paper bags! ugh.

Thank you for your advice, just dropping him off and the vet and I am waiting for a phone call now. X-ray pending on the results of ultrasound.
Our whole house is ferret proof and it is something we maintain. I've checked all his toys and bedding none show signs of chewing. He shows no intrest in cords, I also checked these though. The only thing he got into recently was a tissue that fell to the ground in the night. He distorted most of it but I can not be 100% sure that he didn't eat any of it. This was after I noticed and change in his behavior though although it could have contributed. I have a cage for emergency's only, I really don't believe ferrets are a cage animal and owners should take the necessary steps to there environment as safe as possible.
Saying that, I hope it's not an underline problem for his past. He spent 2 years as a working ferret on horrid diet and come to me with an amazing coat coated in mites more he came to me. :/

Fingers crossed everything is going to be ok! It's possible it's a hairball too, since he's shedding.

The vet just called, it's not a blockage. Picking up by boy tonight and waiting on test results to confirm what that mass is. Another sleepless night, Just hope I can get him eating more tonight.

-lays on the floor with her monster-
Still waiting for the vet to call again. So worried after looking at the x-rays last night. He has a very large mass between his kidneys. Because ferrets are not very common here, I'm scared they wont be able to treat him.
In the mean time he has developed a bad cough and is having coughing fits that will last anywhere up to 15 seconds. He's eating well and drinking well. Although his not defecating well, his stools are small, dark and infrequent. I don't want him to be in pain. ): He still followed us into the kitchen last night while I got his dinner ready and rolls around in tunnels we have around house.

Do you know if the xray they did was a regular kind, or a barium xray? I do know a lot of softer objects don't show up with a regular one. And fur is softer.

O__O .. anyone know where I can find a pot of gold? He stole my heart and I gave him my wallet. The tests didn't really confirm too much, there was a lot of blood in the sample. Didn't confirm lymphoma so I'm so what happy with that. None the less their is still something going on. I don't think he's in pain but he does stand in the middle of the room and stare off into the distance and shake :/ ...He went in for surgery this morning. The vets love him now, I put his crate down on he rolled onto his back with his paws in the air and tried to eat his way out the crate. She was telling me how active he was after after his last procedure and was running around her office. No one has said a word against his diet and will offer him chicken is his up to eating this afternoon. It's the first time I've been to this vet, I'm very impressed.

Thank you for all who helped me out here. Chico is resting now. It would make it a little easier if anyone knew what was happening to my buddy, no one knows. I hope I did the right thing. I could see you were getting tired buddy but you gave us that look. In the vet yesterday you were such a character I was confident I was just paying for expensive ferret entertainment.
