I just discovered my girls smashed up a glass I didn't even know I had in my room and there's glass EVERYWHERE.
I've checked their feet and bodies for shards and they're okay and I've Checked their mouths for glass or blood or cuts and there's none so I'm hoping that means I'm in the clear.
They would eat glass would they?
What do I do now?

That was supposed to say: "they wouldN'T eat glass would they" I sure hope they aren't that silly but they are ferrets after all, sigh. My mom and I attempted to reassemble the glass and it *appears* to all be there. I've also loaded them up with Vaseline and pumpkin (hoping any shards they did eat will get coated). The only issue is they could have broken the glass anytime between 1:00pm and 6:00pm and eaten shards anytime between then and now. So I guess all I can do now is watch and wait. They seem Just fine so far. And of course this is the one night I actually had plans to go out and see a friend who's back in town. You would think theyd give me some time off ONCE in a while Please keep your fingers crossed for them

I think it's unlikely for them to eat the glass. But I wouldn't put anything past a ferret after owning them. Watch the stools and for signs of bleeding (very dark stools). I'll be praying for your girls, but I *think* probably didn't eat it

I'm going to say they won't eat glass unless it's on something that they think is edible. That being said, think how fast our guys spit out chunks of bone that they don't think is edible...glass will probably got the same way. Check their mouths to make sure that there are no cuts, pumpkin is probably a good idea. The glass probably won't show up in an xray, I will be honest...I've no idea what the treatment would be. Hopefully, someone else will pop in with a plausible solution. I've heard of using bread for dogs, but I certainly wouldn't do that for ferrets (blockages would be guaranteed) ciao

Thanks guys I'm pretty sure we're in the clear. They each had a big Vaseline poop shortly after I loaded them up with it and I completely dissected them and no signs of glass or blood so I think they were smart ferrets. I would never think that any other animal would eat glass, but ferrets are special little critters haha. I'm feeding them raw soupies tonight to be gentle on their tummies cause their poop is pure Vaseline diarrhea (I hate using that stuff but I figured better Vaseline than glass right?) I'm just happy they didn't attempt to eat the glass and cut themselves or get glass stuck in their paws. Now I'm off to vaccuum up the shards (thankfully our vaccuum came back from the repair shop tonight - just in time). Needless to say I will not be bringing glasses into my room anymore!
