Right! Question: Is there a more natural thing to use for ferretone, hairball remedy, and ear cleaning solution?

Extra virgin olive oil and fish oil can make good hairball preventative. Pumpkin also works good to help grab anything that may be in the intestinal tract.
As for ear cleaning (which I don't do often) you can use olive oil. Works great.

No problem :-)
Just to note - the pumpkin has to be plain pumpkin, not pie filling, no additives.

So my mom emailed me back. Used every excuse in the book. I'm kind of upset since I wasn't expecting that kind of response.. Says she wants a dog.. I emailed her back and am being persistant and assertive. Not giving up yet. :\

Some dogs are more work than ferrets! I'll keep my fuzzbutt, thanks.

That's what I said.. One of her arguments were, finding someone to babysit a dog will be MUCH easier then finding someone to babysit a ferret... First off, we NEVER go anywhere? And if we did why couldn't we bring the fuzz with us? Second.. Ferrets are easier to babysit IMO.. Sorry, just need to vent. Her reasons don't seem valid to me.

It can be tricky to convince people that their beliefs are unfounded. I was ALWAYS told ferrets were the worst pet, never allowed to have one. When I moved out, I was finally able to come to my own conclusions and realized that they are amazing pets. Keep at it - worst case you wait a couple years and get one when you move out. Be persistent, be respectful, and no matter what the end result, realize it is her house and she makes the rules I know that sucks to hear.

Yeah, it sucks being a teenager sometimes. I find it crazy how they get such bad reputations.. Before I researched them I thought they were known biters, smelt super bad, and pooped everywhere.. I now know that's all wrong. And they are such fun and loving creatures. I really miss having that to wake up to every morning. Tanuki gave me a reason to wake up and enjoy the world, you know? They need our attention, they want us to play with them and feed them and love them. Meh. I'll get one oneday.

Haha that's exactly what I was thinking Sherry. They do poop everywhere, most ferrets do stink (because they're on kibble), and many ferrets do bite However, potty training, raw diet, and a little training fixes all that

Tanuki was very good with her poop picking places! And she didn't bite, but she did have that *lovely* ferret musk.

As most (or all) kibble ferrets do. You can also dramatically decrease odor by regularly washing the bedding.
