I used to have that exact litter box in my cage, but it was too small for my guys.. they'd go in it a couple of times then deemed it too dirty and would go in another corner, so I had to pick up a huge litter box. It's a huge cat litter box that's about the size of one of the smaller shelves in the cage. I cut a hole in one of the sides for easy access. Since I put that box in there, not a single accident. Not one. Not even from one of my older adoptees who was given up due to his bad potty habits.
It does take up a bit more room but it's well worth it, I think.. I scoop once in the morning and once in the evening and I don't think I could ever go back to a smaller box..
Might be worth a try.. I got the box on sale at Petco for less than $10, so it wouldn't be a huge loss if it doesn't work..

I think we are going to have to look for a bigger box (especially since we are now looking for another ferret ). The boys do fine with it when it's freshly cleaned but by mid day they don't anymore. And I don't really blame them. There hasn't been anymore big messes to clean up though. Just little bits here and there that are covered in litter so I'm thinking they just got tossed out or stuck to a foot.

There is a sterilite container, i think maybe the 28 qt one, that almost perfectly fits the short side of the FN. It takes up more space, but if it stops the accidents it would be worth it. And you might need the extra space if you are thinking of a 3rd (YAY FERRET MATH!).
Otherwise, a bigger cat size box will probably work, but the back might not be high enough for some fuzz (they might poop over the back).

The store we got our fuzzies from is getting another bunch in monday and they will be on sale for the holiday weekend. Mind you we are feeling pretty specific about the color/gender of what we want (is that bad, wanting a specific color?). We're really hoping for a albino, or DEW girl. We have two sweet boys but I'd really like a girl.

Just be aware that a lot of DEWs are deaf. Not all but a lot. There are certain challenges that come with a deafie. Blazes and pandas are also prone to deafness and waardenburg syndrome.

And nip training deaf ferrets is one of the more....interesting things about them ;D They don't clue in to the normal verbal cues as others do, so you have to be inventive

While looking for an alternative to the pet store litter boxes I found a listing for Mainstays Mini Stacking Bins, 3pk at WalMart. The web page said that price varies by store so I don't know how much they are but am very excited to check them out at the store. They are 12"W x 10"H so you probably won't be able to get more than one on the short side of the FN cage. BUT all three sides are high and the front looks pretty low.

I use this plastic bin With the lid on. I melted a hole in the front and stuck a superpet elbow in the hole. You can heat a coffee can on the stove to get a perfect circle. Please be careful sorry phone won't let me add pic I'll figure it out.
