Boris. He turned 3 years old in Nov. As most of you know, he is likely IBD. He fits the description, and the probiotics, pumpkin, and reishi seem to help him for the most part. Looking at him, I was really getting concerned about how thin he's become. I can almost see his hips, and can just feel his ribs when I run my hands down his side. I've been trying to avoid the pred if at all possible with him, so have been following the protocol in Katt's IBD thread with Koda. Successfully, so it seemed. So, given my level of concern, I weighed him. Now, the weight loss seemed to have been mostly over the last couple of months. I forgot to weigh them last month , and usually do them middle month. The long and short of it- the little beggar weighs exactly the same as he did last August! I don't know if they get any more growth after a year, but he seems to have somehow gotten longer(he's almost a "greyhound" ferret now). I'm guessing although he didn't put much weight on for winter, he has lost that over the last while, and that's what I've noticed? He still has a TON of energy, plays, eats, etc., just fine. I personally think this little beggar just likes to stress me out ;D

I personally think this little beggar just likes to stress me out ;D I dont have a scale (ive been meaning to get a kitchen scale since ive seen him loosing weight) but I know my fuzzbutts and I know *looking* and *touching* Mojito he has been getting thinner in the past month or so, it sounds like he is about the same as Borris, you can almost see his hips and just feel his ribs BUT the weird thing is that he is still heavy like if the weight loss is an optical illusion- I look at Kahlua and shes gotten so freakin chubby, yet I pick them both up and he is heavier than her. If I have him at my best friend's he was about the same as Jack was and he is heavier than Morgan (Jack was the fattest... now Morgan is) The thing about his skinny-ness that is really frustrating to me is that one instant he will look skinnier than another. This isnt the first time that he has lost a dramatic amount of weight visibly (yet still felt the same when picked up), the first time was when summer changed to fall, then a little when fall changed to winter but definately not like now- this is only a little more drastic than the first time it happened and both (1st and now) were more drastic than the second time. The thing that scares me is the pee thing, that coupled with the weight loss scares me so much. I wish I could understand it.. it is so strange and worrysome he plays normally, poops normally, is actually more energetic than Kahlua (who is younger than him) he eats normally, doesnt make weird noises when he eats or plays or anything else... the only thing other than the weight loss is that he had a weird little pee issue but it seems to have gone away now: aprx 3 weeks after they finished the last of their zupreem grain free (which had been making their coats yellow and their pee darker) the pee issue he had was while her pee went from dark-ish to normal in a few days, his darkened. It was only darker for like 2-3 days and it wasnt every time he peed though it was darker than the zupreem dark pee, then he went a whole day that he didnt have one abnormal peep and then the next day it was almost the whole day of dark pee, then it was normal color but he was occassionally leaking urine while he slept. Now he is fine (hes been good for about 4 days, no dark urine and no leaking) but I am still worried. I am trying to get time out of work to take him to the vet but they arent being very cooperitive, so I am thinking of asking my mom to take him- Im just worried that it will be pointless, she isnt there everyday to see him. If the vet asks a question, what if she doesnt know the answer and cant get a hold of me. I dont get it, if I have sick/vacation time available- why cant I use it? I hope I can get time off or just have my mom take him in and call me I guess if the doc has questions?

Sherry, Koda and Boris really need to stop talking to each other and sharing ideas to stress us out! ;D

Pixie has always been thin. It freaks me out all the time, but I think it's just her body type.

Koda is a skinny boy too for sure. He has never been fat. Even as a kit. And it is funny but looking back everyone was always "Oh you will be surprised at how much a kit can eat..." but Koda never really did eat that much. He ate more than he does now, but not Tons. Kenai now, he never STOPS eating. He eats like 4 times what Koda did as a kit, and 6 times what he eats now.

Pixie has always been thin. It freaks me out all the time, but I think it's just her body type. Right, just like those genetically thin people who eat 2 large Mcdonalds meals 2x a day and are thin as a rail. Me I eat a carrot and gain 2 pds. So ferrets sometimes could just be thin because......well its their body type.

Problem is Boris has NEVER been a skinny boy before this. I don't have any recent ones(need to take more, lol!), but here he was before the IBD kicked in:
