I didnt see anything here about it. Unless I passed it over and for me that is alot. Which ones are important which aren't. Heart worm pervention? I live in suffolk NY where do they do spray to prevent them nasty gnats. Since I live in a small place I was hoping to get them out at least 30 mins a day. I saw the post Sherry put up about the heart worms so I know before warm weather starts I will get prevention stuff.

Are you referring to vaccinations? If so, the two that ferrets can get are canine distemper and rabies. There are a lot of opinions out there about them - some never, some vaccinate once, some a couple times, others yearly. I vaccinate minimally (mainly once) and don't vaccinate for rabies. You can get yearly titers done to check for antibody levels, but a low value doesn't necessarily mean they aren't protected.
I would use heartworm preventative if you live in an area with a high chance of heartworm (Mosquitos carry heartworm, not gnats) and you are planning on them being outside frequently. There are holistic options, and a healthy immune system is usually a great defense against parasites like heartworm (but not 100% all the time).
If you have any other questions, or if I was unclear about anything, ask away :-)

Check to see what the levels are in your area. Heartworm is a big one for ferrets, since all it really takes is one worm to basically fill those tiny hearts. If it's prevalent, I'd use the preventative from your ferret vet. For the other vaccines, I did the kit series, and the one year booster. Now, I don't do any. Be aware, however, of the rabies vaccine laws in your area. Where I live, if my ferret bites someone and I don't have the proper certificates to prove vaccinations, and that person complains- my ferret WILL be destroyed and tested for rabies. There is no quarantine for ferrets here, unlike dogs and cats

LOL I said gnats because I didn't know how to spell Mosquitos so I took the lazy way out. Yeah def. I'll do the heartworm thing no way would I risk it. I'll have to do thinking about the shots. They say even for dog they really do not need them all evey year. More like every 3 years but I don't think that includes rabies.
