Okay so this worked on my test forum (hffskins.proboards.com) so hopefully it'll work for you.
This method replaces the current smileys. If you want to add additional smileys, I'll figure that out next.
1) make a folder to hold your smiley images 2) right click on the smiley of your choice and click save picture as. Save it as whatever smiley it represents. 3) go to Admin > Skins/Forum Colors > Customize Images > scroll down to the smiley section and enter the new smiley image URLs.
Make sure they match whatever smiley you're replacing.
Let me know how it goes :-)

Don't I have to save them to something like photobucket first? I've got a bunch there already. Or can I copy/paste it straight from my comp? Better question- where do I create the folder, lol? I've done that, and it's on my desktop.

Ah, sorry forgot that part. Yes, you also upload them to photobucket. When loading them into proboards use the direct link, not the image code.
The folder is for your desktop to keep the smileys organized when you're saving them. =)

Oh! The direct link I've been trying to copy/paste the url for the individual image on the page top You know, when you click on the image, it opens a new window with just that image?

Ohh! That makes sense.
Yes, after you load it into photobucket, use the direct link and copy/paste that for the image.

Hmm, I got it to work on my test forum for those bouncing images (www.hffskins.proboards.com)
Let me restate the instructions more clearly:
Go to the website with the smileys you want. Right click on the desired smiley -> Click Save Picture As -> Name and save Load that smiley into photobucket Copy the Direct Link for the particular smiley go to Admin > Skins/Forum Colors > Customize Images > scroll down to the smiley section Paste the direct link code into the correlating smiley face

Yay! It worked! I have a code to add more than just the standard smileys, but I have to test it first.
No problem, I'm happy to help!
