We feed two normal sized meals a day, then a half sized "snack" before bed. Mainly so they'd let us sleep when getting them off the kibble ;D Since they do free feed, expect kitties to caterwaul on a regular basis, because they'll think they are being starved! But they do get used to it. It just takes a while. Even with doing that, you'll be surprised at how much excess weight they drop. And once on a wet food, they're getting even fewer carbs. One vet I had hit it on the nose when she blamed the epidemic of feline diabetes on kibble, with free fed the worst. Too many carbs.

So how much crap kibble should be fed per serving? I guess a bit more because it's full of junk

Herne's wellness says 5/8 of a cup per day for a 10lb cat. If I remember correctly, Evo said 1/2 a 13 oz tin per day for the same weight. As a comparison, FF says to feed(I think) 3-4 3oz tins a day for a 7lb cat ;D
