I hate this part of our board... 30 min ago Rory decided to take the path to the Bridge... About a week and a half ago she stopped eating willingly so spoon feeding and a trip to the vet were in order. Nothing but a big bill came from the vet visit except some bags of fluids for sub-q's and some carafate (her bg was at the lower end of normal, x-rays looked good no masses glaringly noticable). Couple days later blood and stool sample results showed nothing. Soupie spoon feedings progressed to syringe feedings every couple hours with her sub-q's and there were no improvements. I know that I did everything I could vetting wise but it still make me feel like I missed something. Rory has only been with me for about 2 months or so and right now I'm kinda feeling like the Grimm Reaper because I've seen 3 fuzz cross to the Bridge and each time they were only with me for less then 6 months... Everyone else in our crew is fine physical health wise (mentally well, we all know about Sophie Ann and Velma) Safe journey Rory....

How heartbreaking. Rory was your wee rescue...right? I have to admit, I'm not fond of this section of the board either. It tears at me to see the wee ones names in the subject line, knowing that their earthbound journey is ending and their little paws are now starting a more celestial journey. I will light a candle to guide your wee Rory. It seems that your wee gypsy is on the road again only this time a heartkey hangs on a gold chain around her wee neck. The illness that she so closely guarded is now gone, she is free of pain and fear. She bounces along the path, chasing the dancing sunbeams as they peek out at her along the way. She is not alone, there are others, many have heartkeys...some do not. They were the unlucky ones who never found the treasure that she found...she found someone to love her, sick as she was. She looks back, knowing that someday those arms will once again hold her but until then she will play here with the others. Perhaps, she leans her head off to the side looking at a wee one without that special heartkey....perhaps...this one should be allowed a second chance to find that key and bounces off Goodbye, little sweetheart, Goodbye Rory. ciao

Yeah, Rory was a rescue, her ferrents had to move back to NY and couldn't take her with them. Everyone here is a rescue. Slink and Slither came from a Breast Cancer patient that could no longer care for them, Ping and Tai were abandonded at a boarding facility, Gypsy and Godiva came from Animal Control but were found seperatly wandering around a college and a golf course, Crumb and Jasmine came from a family that were moving and couldn't take them to their new apartment, Gabby and Thor were abandonded in the middle of the night outside a vets office, Sophie Ann and Velma were brought to me by a neglectful/abusive family that just didn't want to deal with them any more. Lilly and Chewie I adopted from one of our local members.... I'm not sure how it all has happened but everyonce in awhile I'll get a call or email from someone who knows someone that can't take care of their fuzz for one reason or another and being me I just can't say no to a furbaby in need... lately I've been refering people to Stinky Pete's, even though Kim is full I know that she can help find fostering/homes...

I am so sorry to hear about Rory. Sometimes I swear these babies only find us long enough to get their heart keys so they can continue their journeys
