my ferrets are having a bit of trouble with the new litter in the boxes they tend to slide, is the litter not deep enough? maybe putting news paper down first would work?

What litter are you using?

Yeah mine do that in their WB too. I'm not sure making it deeper would help since mine slide until their feet reach the bottom. It might though. I always make mine somewhat shallow because I dump it out to wash out the boxes frequently so I'm not sure how they would do with deep WB.

Mine slide in WB too, and I always keep it shallow. You could try making it deeper.

I use Yesterday's News and I noticed they do that too. Mine do it intentionally though, no matter how much litter is in the box. I think they just like to feel something solid under their feet when they go.

Mine slide as well. I think they might do it to get the "right" position.

I don't know if WB is pellet or cellulose, but I definitely had to make the pellets deep. The cellulose just has to be packed down tight so it doesn't slide or let moisture go down. I always have problems and more work when I skimp :\

WB is made from corn husk/stalk. So it's more of a tiny bead/pellet sort of litter. I do use it fairly deeply in a couple of the boxes, more shallow in others, and it doesn't seem to make a difference for the sliding.

I used to make it deep, but the more I used, the more that got dirtied/spread around the cage. So now I just use a shallow layer, clean 1-2x a day, and top off nightly.

i use feline pine but i don't think it has anything to do with what litter you use.... the litter boxes are plastic and they have trouble getting grip! i put down a few layers of toilet paper and it helps a bit but you still hear their feet sliding around, trying to gain grip. i haven't come up with any other solutions, so if someone does let us all know!
