oh no. when you wrote that last night i really was sure that it was a blockage but i was hoping that it wasn't. they can live out a normal lifespan after recovering from a blockage surgery. is she out of surgery yet??? the recovery can be a long or short process depending on how old your ferret is, how healthy they are, and how long she had the blockage, whether there was any dead intestinal tissue, any kidney damage from the dehydration, etc. she will most likely be on antibiotics for a while. when you bring her home, keep her calm as possible and by herself. try to keep any brothers and sisters away from her. it is important that she eats soft foods. the vet may give you AD (canned soft food). she will have to eat that for awhile. you can add water to the food to make it a soup and then that will help keep her more hydrated. good luck and please keep us updated! some times people end up here in an emergency situation but they end up staying with us. we are like a little online family.

The vet says his intestines didn't suffer any damage at all either, so relieved

Oh that's great. Thank YOU for reacting so quickly. I've been in the same position (though didn't need surgery). It's scary. I'm glad your baby is okay. Give her a hug for me

So happy to hear the good news Give yourself a pat on the back - you asked when you didnt know what the symptoms meant and you took immediate action when you realized it was an emergency. Now you know what to look out for in the future but *fingers crossed* you don't have to deal with anymore scary blockage experiences! So glad your ferret is okay

he came home from the vet yesterday, but ended up bleeding from the incision so we had to take him back in. He'll be fine once the incision heals properly. Thanks again to everyone here
