Please be careful with that trick. It's fun and wonderful when your fuzz loves and trusts you that much. Especially in such a short time, but....my Napoleon (the flying fertini) would do this and I, like you thought it was great, until one day I was cleaning cages and never thought....I just opened the door. Napoleon came flying at me, expecting me to catch him...my arms were full of bedding and cleaners. I caught him...only just. It scared me terribly. He also would do this from the top of the cages. He would run along the top and fling himself at you. You were momma....you can do anything. You never let baby fuzzes fall. Let me tell you when your guys is closer to 5 lbs and he comes flying out of nowhere trusting you to catch him..... I'm so glad that the two of you have bonded so well. It's fantastic. I envy you and miss my Napoleon terribly ciao

Well, this morning Finn was really feeling his oats and really fiesty! He decided to take on Fenton, and this time I saw it happen, and caught it on tape! The scuffle lasted 10 minutes! Fenton starts out sluggish and doesn't fight back much at first, but gets into it more as the fight goes on. It seems like Finn had the upper hand most of the time, but Fenton got in some really good pins, so I'm not really sure who won! I hope Fenton can step up his game and remain dominant for a while, this new guy is still a baby lol...

Hi Mike! Thought I'd post. I've been so busy and finally was able to get on here again. I am so happy Finn is working out for you. All of the kits in that litter seemed to have sweet temperaments. The brother that went to the other guy settled down fine after a day. He just needed to have some quiet time to adjust to his new surroundings. What I also wanted to say is yes I ship sometimes but for me to do this it takes intensive time getting to know the prospective new owner and references etc. Mike was already on the forum and was trying hard to do everything correct which went a long way in my decision. Also, the only airline I will use for this is Continental and their PetSafe program. I have flown some of my ferrets to shows with me using Alaska also but not in this weather as they are in what is called pet baggage. With the Continental program they are the last things loaded and first off the planes and transferred in air conditioned vans, also flown on the larger planes specifically designed for this program. Many show people including some of the AFA judges and the back east US breeders are now shipping their ferrets to shows as we no longer are able to take them in cabin with us as before with Delta. Regarding dominance, your new and probably biggest boy may remain on the bottom of the pecking order. Shaman is HUGE and "abnormally" muscular. He could easily hurt the others with no trouble at all. But he's the youngest and he's just a big, loveable goof ball - that's his personality. It's all fun and games for Shaman!!!

All 3 fuzzes got live mousey tonight!
Even though he has never hunted before, Finn immediately killed the mouse and ate the head! He's a natural!
Is there anything this guy isn't good at? ;D

I think he may have won that fight with Fenton, it's hard for me to tell! And Fiona already submits to him.

OMG something crazy just happened!
I sometimes like to hold and pet Finn while he's sleeping to try and bond him more with me. Well, while I've been surfing the web in the recliner using my laptop, he has been curled up sleeping deeply on my chest.
Out of nowhere, he started alligator-rolling around on my chest and flailing and kicking his little legs! I put up my hands to stop him from falling on the floor, and I noticed his eyes were shut! He squirmed around for a few second and kicked his legs, then was still again. When I talked to him and moved him around, his eyes stayed shut, like he's in the typical deep ferret sleep.
Does this sound like a dream or nightmare maybe? It was funny and so unexpected LOL... Typical Finn, he squirms around even in his sleep ;D

He was probably hunting a mouse in his sleep!!!! ;D Hi might be a strong dominant ferret. When Shaman came ome, he pounded the crap out of the others until Tomichi decided she had had enough of the new little a-hole. She let him have it with "both barrels", and she also intervened with play sessions between Shaman and the others. Between the 3 of them, they put Shaman in his place. Tomichi is a very strong "mom" type. She would have been an incredible breeder ferret - she rules the roost an mothers and trains everyone else - she even does that to people. I believe it's really too early to tell where your "little boy" (hee-hee! ;D ) will end up in the pack. (although your others are early alter, so they may be less be less aggressive - I've never had a mixed crew) I'm so happy you got your baby...I know he has a wonderful home with you, and he's obviously incomplete control already since he already has you wrapped around his little paw ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D he is truly beautiful in every way! -jennifer

Hello! So far Fin has been lots of fun, but I have a question for anyone who has had intact hobs. I have heard they can have a "mini season", can anyone tell me more about that? I am wondering if Finn might be having one of those. He is just shy of 4 months old now, and he's up to 3.5 lbs now. He has been fighting pretty vigorously with my altered boy Fenton, so far not a problem. However, I have noticed he's always sniffing around my female Fiona's bum, and he sometimes looks like he sort of halfheartedly tries to mount her, but doesn't stay on her for more than a few seconds. Then today he was following her around licking her bum vigorously That seemed unusual. At one point he even pinned her rear end down so he could groom it. Could he be in a mini-season, whatever that is? I heard you could tell by looking at their "jewels"? His are showing, they are small but they are not hidden inside his body or anything. Oh and since everybody loves pics, here's one from tonight. He's getting big but he still looks like a baby P1010581 by walkerstop, on Flickr
