So I'm planning on feeding raw and checking out where I can and will buy from my meat from. So question 1 is chicken the same source of meat as cornish hen? Since they are both fowl? You guys say they need at least 3 different meats. #2 How about spare rib? I know the bone might be an issue but can they eat the meat? And last #3 not a meat question but if they are eating kibble do I need to get them to eat better kibble or just get them off altogether? I was wondering this because if they are something like "gulp" cereal or dog food I'd want to get them off it....fast!

Okay here we go 1) yes CGH is different than chicken. I asked this question not long ago and Sherry indicate that CGH is a hybrid with different birds, making it a separate source of protein. 2) spare ribs are fine. As long as the meat isn't processed, cured, seasoned, etc. Like you said, the bone might be to hard, but tearing off the bone is great for jaw strength. 3) kibble - nope. If you are swigging to raw, then leave the kibble in the dust. It can be stressful switching to a new kibble. Start with raw soups and go from there.

Jackie gave good advice all the way round Only thing I'd clarify is ANY meat is fair game, as long as it's not altered

I usually buy the loin rib tips and those bones are usually handled well. Even if I buy regular ribs they love it. and like Jackie said, leave the kibble in the dust!

I think the bone they are willing to eat really depends on the individual ferret. I had one student who's ferts had no problem with pork chop bone!
