I've always used clay litter with my cat, but I'd love to switch her to something corn or wheat based clumping, I just cannot stand the dust and smell of regular cat litter anymore. But I'm worried because cats are so touchy about litter boxes and she's always used hers great and she's a senior, is it worth trying? Should I add a little worlds best cat litter to her box or go cold turkey?

I think a slow transition might work best if you're worried she'll be picky. Maybe sprinkle a bit on top and see how she reacts to it?

Type of switch I found worked best was to put the new litter on the bottom, old on top, and as they use it, and you scoop, they gradually get combined, and then just keep adding a bit of the new every time you scoop, making sure to mix it in.

Ok, I will try mixing it in. What's funny is I don't really like the smell of corn or wheat litter either but anythings better than clay at this point, it just makes me gag and the dust is insane! I hadn't tried switching earlier because we always get these weird carpet beetles every summer and I thought they might find it tasty but apparently they prefer meat! Makes sense because we only ever found them around kibble and I think for the most part they have died off after the first round now that the kibble is gone because haven't found hardly any alive lately. I hate bugs! Even harmless ones.
