Hi everyone! I've been feeding my guy straight raw for about 5-6 months now. I was hoping to incorporate a weekly day/meal of stella and chewys so that, god forbid a stay at the vet is necessary, i'll have something a little easier to feed. Right now im using the menu that I've seen Sherry post - 4 days of bone in/ 2 of muscle meat/ 1 "freebie". My guy gets cornish hen, chicken, duck hearts, turkey liver, pork, rabbit and rabbit organs. Beef is a no go. Given this menu, could you guys give me some opinions on which version of stella and chewy's to order? I want to incorporate the best variety given what i'm already feeding. The options are lamb, chicken, or duck/goose. Im thinking lamb or duck/goose since i already feed chicken raw. I'm not opposed to ziwipeak (especially since they have a venison option) but i want to make sure its freeze dried before i order....for some reason I cant figure it out . Thanks for all of your input!

Ive used the dog stuff (cat line jist came out).
I'd go lamb, which is GREAT for upset tummies and is a very gentle meat. Mine don't really like lamb too much, but it's so good for them.
You could also try the feline salmon and chicken, which could also be a good addition. I've never tried it though but it has more meat an organ than the dog versions.

Mine LOVE duck duck goose, and if you could I'd get two small bags of both duck duck and lamb, but if I had to pick one it'd be lamb. It's great for IBD and is just an overall good meat to have them like.
However it's a less tastey meat in my kids opinion, so duck duck might be accepted better.

I'm doing the same and just ordered the duck and chicken, mainly because my cat can also eat those proteins but I'm not sure she can take lamb. I would like to try the lamb eventually because I don't feed it, too expensive locally but I do feed a large protein variety anyways and not sure how often I'll use the freezedried. The ziwipeak is air dried although I've heard many ferrets don't like it, I ordered a sample pack as well and maybe I'll get a little to try out on them.

Looks like I'll be giving the lamb a try I know my weasel would go nuts for the duck, but since he already gets duck hearts and a whole host of other birds, i'll try to incorporate the lamb. Thanks for all of the input!

I was also going to say the lamb, for the reason Jackie gave. It's easy on sick/upset tummies. And if they have to stay at the vet's, odds are there is going to be an upset tummy in there for whatever reason.

Sonny loves them all (except for the salmon one which I have never given him). His favorite is the Duck Duck Goose.

Wysong's site says Archetype I can be reconstituted with water. Has anybody done it? Sherry? What's the consistency when it's reconstituted? We are thinking about buying some AT1 for when we go out of town in case my cousin (who's about 12) is uncomfortable with dead mice and raw meat.

All freeze dried raw will reconstitute to a mush.

the wysong ferret archeyptal 1 just looks like a raw mush. you will have to either crumble the chunks with your hand or use a clean coffee grinder. the organs look funky when they are rehydrated. you find some funky things in there. they are putting less organ meats in it now because so many people complained. it was like 80% organ meat until a few months ago. my ferret would not even eat it. sometimes you will find a chicken esophagus (like a little dried meat tube), half of a chicken liver or chicken heart (they look really dark). one day i found what looked like a chicken EYE in my dog's freeze dried ! he ate it...blech. i wonder what kind of nutritional value an eyeball has? lol. the stella & chewys looks really cool when rehydrated. you see the chunks of meat, skin, etc. sonny LOVES wysong ferret archetypal 1. he is a snob and doesn't like the canine/feline version.

Sonny also prefers the duck duck goose over anything else. i must admit it DOES smell more appetizing then the rest of them. especially when you add warm water to it. some days i smell it and i'm like "hey this doesn't smell too bad..." i would never eat it of course.

And miami? The eye would have the same nutritional value as any other organ

since both the Wysong and the Stella/Chewy's are both balanced formulas, the don't really affect the balance of the remainder of the diet.
Wysong archetypal 1 for ferret is primarily chicken. The archetype burgers are mostly beef. Wysong does vary its percentages of chicken vs. beef, and the product can range from very rustic (less processed) to extremely homogenized. My brats like the rustic, and I feel it its more nutritious (less processing). My last case has been very homogenized, which is not my preference.
Stella and Chewy's varies in moisture content. Some patties seem almost mushy, which concerns me a bit if the bags have been on the shelf for an extended period of time.

When getting this for a Ferret, do I get the patties or what? The dog or cat variety? I'd like to get some lamb but there are many options on amazon.com.
