What does everyone use to bath their ferrets? I use to buy a ferret shampoo from the pet store but since Ringo's health problems I'm nervous to put anything on them! So I'm just curious what other people use!

I don't normally bathe my ferrets, unless one has managed to get himself/herself rolled into something disgusting ;D If bathing is absolutely necessary then I usually just use ferret shampoo (it seems every rescue that is turned in comes with at least one bottle...I've got dozens : I'm sure others will pop in with their ideas to give you a hand. You can use oatmeal in a washcloth or cheesecloth and rub it over him if you like as well. ciao

Water only baths unless they get into some REALLY bad (like poop ;D). Then I use baby shampoo - it's gentle and easy on the skin. Smells good. Mine haven't had an actual bath with shampoo in... I don't know, close to a year? ;D

Usually mine end up with a bath atleast once a year.. that typically happens because someone has gotten into something they shouldnt lol. Lastnight Meepo got a bath because he spilled a glass of tea and had it all over him. I just use baby shampoo and conditioner and it works great and they smell like little babies for ...oh 5 minutes? lol till they roll all over the carpet in a frenzie trying to get dry.

Again, I don't bathe either. Water generally gets everything off. The very odd time I've had to give a shampoo bath, I used baby shampoo. I've got a bottle I got with Boris 3 1/2 years ago, and through 10 ferrets, I've used maybe 1/5 of the bottle ;D

Yep, same here, working off the bottle of ferret shampoo I bought when I first got mine 2.5 years ago. I did go with a brand with no fragrance added. Also, I put a small amount of shampoo and about double the volume of water into a small plastic bottle like used for traveling with human shampoo, and mix it together, so that I don't get huge amounts of the shampoo concentrated where I first put it onto him. Makes rinsing off much quicker.

I don't bathe them really. The few times I have (Pixie and Yogi's intro, when Yogi rolled in his own poo >:C ) I used a soapless brand (had oatmeal and other good-for-you stuff. YAY VAGUENESS) from my vet. It was great - they smelled wonderful (none of that smell worse problem), and had nice coat/skin from it, I just forget the name, since it was a while ago and we've moved. Generally during sheds , I use Avixx parrot spray on them when I brush them out. I got it from my exotic's vet when Pix was having issues (we thought it was the beginnings of adrenal, but it wasn't). It soothes the skin when they get super itchy and it smells good but doesn't strip oils. One bottle has lasted me over three years and I still have over half left so no complaints from me,

I love putting a bit of coconut oil in their plain bathwater, and that is it. They smell nice always, and no dryness. Hunter needed frequent bathing (daily) and I was worried about his skin. His fur and skin are so marvelous, I use it on all of them at "swimmy time".
