Hmmm, ok. Does she have a meat that she really likes, quail, pork. What about her soupy, can you put the meat in that or does it get the same treatment. What a brat ciao

She treats all chunks the same whether in soupy or not. She'll first slurp up as much as she can before she's forced to eat a chunk. Than she'll pick up a chunk and drop it next to the plate, if it's to get liking, which I think is the softer the better, she'll chew through it otherwise she'll go back to the plate in search of another piece. The shelf is usually covered in chunks of meat by the time she's done "eating". She was the last to adopt chunks so I'm still holding out hope that she'll eat bone soon. Although, now I wonder what I should do if she doesn't come around? Maybe find another commercial grind that has bone for bone in days? But then again, I've also seen her lick the bone bits clean and Pita eat them instead of her. Maybe a ground bone substitute I can use for the eggshell? Hehe. My problem child. The things I have to do for her.

We all have one Keep at her. Egg shell is by far an inferior product, bone is the best. Does she eat the bone ground? as in a commercial product? ciao

I'm not sure if you mean commercially ground meat with bone in it or actual ground bone commercial product. I was getting the commercial meat from Hare Today. I don't know of any ground bone product.

It's ok, I meant the commercial ground rmb that you can get. You can get ground bone or bonemeal from the butcher. Some butchers will sell you the grind when they're cutting bone. It's much better for them than purchased bone meal but hard to find. No, I meant for you to use the commercial ground meats like you get through hare today and rodentpro. ciao

She does like the commercial ground with bone, but I stopped buying it from Hare Today because of the quality issues. I'll look into rodent pro instead.

Meh. Rodentpro only does whole and I can't get her to eat the whole quail we have.

Ok, that's not going to work. You're not the first person I"ve heard complain about haretoday. It's really unfortunate. Is there any stores near you that sell prepared raw diets for pets? Do you have access to a grinder? hand grinder even? I've heard of people being able to get hold of hand grinders at local markets. Mine will grind through even turkey bones if need be. You can also use bonemeal but I don't like it for 2 reasons....it's cooked and contamination is often a problem, but it is an idea. ciao

I'm looking for a grinder and I think I've found one that will do bone, but I need to work it into the budget for next month. In the mean time, I'm trying them on freeze dried (Wysong), moistened, and see how they all take to that. It has bone listed as an ingredient so at least it will help supplement somewhat.

You do what you have to. You're doing fine. So she will eat the meat as long as there are no chunks of bone in it. I would be tempted to try her with that and see how it goes. Maybe, given time she will come around or you may have to leave this one on a type of commercial grind if you can find it. If you can get a grinder bonus. ciao

I tried freeze dried by itself bur only Spice would try it and even he wasn't enthusiastic about it. Instead I'm trying mixing one or two spoonfulls per meal of the freezes dried which seems to work as ling as I cover the taste with a bit of pumpkin or olive oil. Of course, I'm not sure how much bone they're getting though.
I'm not sure I'm ever going to get Sugar to agree to a purely freeze dried meal.

I"ve never used freeze dried so I'm not sure how to make it more appealing. There are a number who do, so it might be something to post in the forum itself. How are their stools? That is often a good indicator as to whether they're getting enough bone or calcium in their diets. ciao

Their stools look pretty good, formed. On organ days they're darker and gooey-er but otherwise good.

Sounds like you've got the balance. A lot about raw feeding is getting to know about watching for things like this and learning to react to the change. If your guys had runny stools then they would definitely not be getting enough bone and you would need to up it. From your description you appear to be getting a good balance. ciao
