What in-cage toys do you guys use or recommend for leaving in the cage? Preferably ones my ferrets can't ingest... I have a chewer.
I just want them to have more play things while I'm away during the day.

what kind of cage do you have? my kids don't really enjoy toys, so I attached a couple of those superpet tubes to the sides of their cage so they can run around while I'm not home. like this: there's 2 tubes, they were on clearance for $6 each at petco. they are attached with 14" zip ties.. they absolutely love 'em. just an idea, anyway

Thanks. I have a Ferret Nation.
I'll have to try that. My guys enjoy jingly/crackling toys.

Jingle balls, plastic eggs, those hard plastic keys they sell as baby toys?

OH SICK! i'm going to do that. my babies have nothing to do for while their in the cage, since i let them out in the morning, when it's cooler, and then they're generally in the cage for the afternoon.
i'mma get zip ties now. ;D will those stretchy tubes hold up a big guy up top like that? my guys is over 3 pounds.

I've done that with the tubes too, and wrapped them around the interior and up to the next level instead of having a ramp or shelf. But after a few months of hard use, the plastic tore and exposed the wires. Happened with both the Super Pet tubes and the Marshall Thru-way, so just check them regularly for wear. I'd love to get a set of those hard tubes and do the same thing.
I have a couple of hard baby toys, like Sherry said, and also a few acrylic toys meant for large birds. Nothing that squeaks or chirps is allowed alone with Hocus... just indestructibles!

Yogi was over 4 lbs and those tubes held him just fine (well, okay, it'd ruck his fur up something awful, but that's it). On the other hand, they don't hold up so well if your guys like to dig. I stopped buying them the fourth time I had to throw them out because of the gigantic holes they scratched and bit into 'em. The marshall thru-way tube seems a bit sturdier than the superpet tunnels, and it would be flexible and moveable for attachment. Just my 2 cents

I've had those tunnels for about 4-5 months now and they are still holding up pretty well. I will definitely end up having to get new ones fairly soon. I tried getting the black drainage pipes from the hardware store as well because its uber cheap and very sturdy, but unfortunately it doesn't bend very well, lol.. and its VERY noisy. My biggest guy is a bit over 3 lbs and it supports him just fine as long as I have enough zip ties I got two packs of the 14" ones, there was like 8 in each pack and the total was under 5 bucks at Ace hardware.

If you go to the enrichment tips and ideas, there's a thread about foraging cups. They are great stimulation and can keep them busy for hours. I like using freeze dried raw inside them because they're less messy, but dehydrated meat works too.
