so i picked up some baby food since pebbles isn't doing so great, and still isn't eating that much.
so i got beef, and the ingredients were beef, beef broth, and concentrated lemon juice.
is the lemon juice okay? since i couldn't find anything else at all, that didn't have any vegetables, fruits or spices.

I don't think it will do any harm, though it does leave me scratching my head?? I'm going to guess the lemon juice is trace and for preserving? I know it can have those capabilities, it also prevents discolouring...I've never heard of it used in meats for that purpose I'm going to say it's ok. I make my own, but I've used heinz baby food, meat only....chicken, beef and veal I believe are the ones that are available ciao

For some reason, I've been having one HECK of a time trying to find meat only baby food in the stores around me I like to keep a couple of jars on hand "just in case". I've got 3 large box stores in my immediate area, and not ONE has meat only

I've got 3 large box stores in my immediate area, and not ONE has meat only Beechnut baby food, availible at superstore has beef only and chicken only baby food (well "beef in beef broth" and "chicken in chicken broth"). It was the only thing my old dog would eat for a while before we had to put him down. It's not organic, but at least there's no added salt or anything like that. I haven't tried it yet with my girls. They tried some heinz meat baby food and basically gagged, but they've started adding "spice" to that food anyways so I won't be buying it anymore.

Forgive me if I'm not doing this right...I am new to forums. Where I live, Toronto, Ontario, I have only been able to find Heinz with broth...no Gerber...No Beachnut...Not sure if it is still okay to use it for my duck soup since the spices have been added.

If it's got salt, etc. I'd not use it. Why not make your own?

I've used the Heinz (it's about all you can get in the TO area), it didn't used to have salt. I've not bought any in awhile (made up a huge batch of my own when they did the recall, and it's in the freezer). ciao
