I've always been inspired by those "cat condo" things. My furkids have free run in my bedroom, and aside from the human furniture and a couple tubes, they don't have much to run around in/on. Hiro might not be into the climbing structures, but I bet Snickers would adore them, and they both might like some interesting tunnels and suchlike. Only thing is, I'm on a pretty tight budget, so even if I could find a product which I thought might work, I can't really afford to shell out for it. Has anyone made/designed their own? Any tips/pointers? Here is a link to show you sort of what I mean (though if I made one, it would be custom to my ferrets and my space) www.dook2dook.com/Ferret_Maze.html

I wonder if you could just use different boxes to make that and like jackie says the drainage pipes from the hardware stores. You could cut the holes the size you want and if you like you could paint or cover the boxes with the sunday cartoons or just wrapping paper. Now.....that sounds like a good idea, I think I will give that a shot!

I keep thinking I want to design and sew a big maze out of fabric tubes that I could throw down for them to burrow and chase in, but be able to fold up when I need the space...just haven't had the time yet.

we made our own cat tree that the ferrets have now claimed... we used scrap peices of wood(both lowes and homedepot have a cut wood pile at a good discount also check out construction sites for free scrap) a carboard concrete tube like mold, and scrap carpet from a flooring company we spent something like $50 total and the cats loved it until the ferrets figured out how to climb up it! We wrapped the post that holds the different levels with sisal rope...

I might give this a try myself. I have some extra carpet that might work perfectly.
