His vet Recommended 1 drop of Baby gas relief (Simethicone) twice a day to see if it helps his tummy since he is releasing gas when he uses the restroom. Has anyone else used those on their furnoodles and does it have any side effects I need to look for or?
I've also started to gently massage his tummy a couple times a day while he's napping until it goes from firm to nice and soft and my room smells like ferret farts. Would putting heat on his belly, like a warm washcloth help release the gas as well? Thinking of popping one of his blankets in the dryer a couple times a day and bundling it over his belly to help that gas pain.

I have used activated charcoal, which is natural and helps with gas by absorbing it. It works for people and for dogs too. You can usually find it online

We gave him a couple drops which the vet said should be fine for the first 2-3 doses to help get out the bulk of his gas. After just one dose he's already drinking more on his own and walking more comfortably. He also ate a pretty large meal in Duck Soup for me. I'm monitoring his weight VERY closely. I'm checking it every 2 days and the moment he loses any more than what he already has, we're rushing him back to the vet. He's even been feeling better enough to be a sassy little man again and dig in his litterbox every time it's freshly cleaned, rub his messy face all over me to clean it off and make it up to his hammock.

Kiwi was making a lot of progress the past week. He's letting off what little gas he still has in his tummy and he's been having pretty normal looking poops. However he's been having these 10-30 minute spells where he's just limp. At first I thought maybe it was a seizure, sometimes he'll twitch or shiver during them. But he's still responsive, just unwilling to move. After a while he suddenly is fine again. Still lethargic like he has been, but overall much better. I don't understand what's happening.
This morning I fed him at 2am, 6am and went to feed him again at 10am and give him his medication. He was laying in a pile of his own poo and pee on his bed. I washed his lower half really well with just some baby wash and dried him. He was in another one of his spells where he's just not willing to move, shivering constantly and sometimes jerking his head. I know this isn't Insulinoma and that's all I can find online. I've tried giving him the corn syrup twice during his sickness when he's been at his worst to see if it would help and it hasn't done anything.
He's not nauseous. He doesn't paw at his mouth at all. He's still grooming himself regularly. He's still not eating on his own but we're giving him duck soupie with ground kibble (Wysong Epigen 90) and pedialyte every 4 hours on the dot and leaving extra pedialyte with him in between. He's been drinking pedialyte like it's a drug. Seriously. He takes sips of water occasonally but the moment pedialyte is around he starts sucking it up. No idea why since it's unflavored. He's making it to the litterbox fine when he goes. His urine looks normal and he's peeing plenty. His feces looks relatively normal, just lower quantities. I can imagine that's because he's always been a piggy and we aren't feeding him as much as he normally ate. He's still on his Antibiotics for a few more days.
We have a vet appointment with him Monday afternoon. It's the soonest they could make. Does anyone know what could be going on, or have any advice for us to make him more comfortable over the weekend?
This was a really sudden decline, his sickness as a whole. He's a VERY piggy boy. He always ate 2-3x more than Joby ever did and was full of energy. It was an overnight shift to this bout of sickness.
Any help is extremely appreciated. I feel like a fish out of water. I'm just trying to make sure he's comfortable, clean, fed and hydrated while we wait.

We took Kiwi to the vet Monday, August 29th. He had gained a slight bit of weight but was still extremely lethargic and starting to have severe nausea when eating or drinking. The vet felt his tummy and noticed that one of his kidneys felt MUCH larger than it had last month. Upon doing an ultrasound she found that it was cystic and diseased. It had grown double it's size from the month before. The second one was beginning to follow suit. She theorizes that it was most likely genetic as he hadn't gotten into anything prior.
We were told we could either put him on more nausea medication and take him home for another few weeks to month before it ended up preventing him from eating as a whole. Or we could euthanize him.
Kiwi was euthanized monday afternoon after recieving as much love as we could give him.
Thank you everyone for helping me with taking care of my boys in their final days. It really means the world to me. I most likely won't be on this forum for quite some time. I won't be owning a ferret again for a minimum of 2-5 years while I grieve my lost babies.
I hope everyone has a blessed rest of their year.

That's just awful. I'm sorry for your loss, and you really did the best you could. Joby and Kiwi were lucky to have you.

Activated charcoal is a natural substance that absorbs gas in the stomach. It can be a good alternative to harsh medicines because it's also really effective. You can find them in capsules at any pharmacy. It's made of charred pulverized wood... sounds weird but it works.
