natural food board.
Has anyone noticed a chance in the Ferret Food Formula from Drs Foster and Smith?? We used to feed both the red and blue formulas along with other foods; we feed a blend of about 6 or 7 things. We quit feeding the red and John said he noticed a change in the blue formula, he said it is hard as a rock. Our 2 resident OLD old girls Lucy & Chewy; they scratch out both Ferret Store Formulas and we have others who will eat about anything.
Anywho, was wondering if anyone else has has noticed any change. We order mainly from The Ferret Store; cheaper prices and lighting fast delivery. I can order online say tonight and it will be here in 48 hours or less.

Yes, they do ship quickly, that is a plus for them.
Think they may have reformulated a bit earlier in the year when none of the formulas were available due to the manufacturer. Then they dropped the natural and just went with the original.
I bought a 20# bag (which if you notice is very rarely on sale). But, I use it primarily for their soupie blend, none of mine like it as kibble. But I did notice it is harder to break.
Maybe drop them a line, they are pretty great with customer service.

I've never used them but I have heard more than once that they changed formula (at least im pretty sure it was Dr. Foster and Smith I heard about) with out even giving the notion that they might... I use Innova Evo cat food (I did tons of research, its exact to their ferret food except if I remember correctly, less fiber and carbs and more taurine-- and its about $10 cheaper a bag) for my two older ferrets.. or I did, then switched them over but now that Mojito has insulinoma and has to have food available at all times Im leaving it in their cage, Kahlua eats it too because she is a pain like that lol. I agree with Weezz, give them a call see if they can answer anything for ya

I work in the creative department for Foster and Smith, and here's what I know...
The formulation of the Original diet has not changed for years. There was just some rewording on the ingredients list to comply with ever-changing AAFCO regulations, though.
Maybe some setting was tweaked on the kibble-making machine and hopefully it only affects a certain batch? I have no idea, but working with the pet industry I've learned that even the most conscientious companies are subject to a lot of different outside variables over which they have no control. It's part of the reason I shy away from even "great" kibbles these days.
Definitely call customer service and let them know so that there's a record of your concern! Feedback is ALWAYS appreciated. I made an inquiry and it doesn't seem that anyone else has called about it yet, but I think this is the second time I've seen the "hard" comment on a forum.
