Hi all! Long time no see.
My littlest spaz, Pip, was doing as she does and being impossibly in the way and managed to sneak under my office chair when I scooted back. She did cry out, and hopped on her back right for a second, before going back to being 100% normal.
I'm of course going to call the vet, but our issue is we live in a small town whose vet doesn't treat ferrets so we see a vet a ways away who cannot get my babies in quickly (regularly appointments are usually a month or more out, and we've been trying to get Noodles in for a non-emergency surgery since Christmas). They have urgent care, but if you don't call first thing in the morning, they likely won't be able to get you in that day.
So my question for you all, since I've never had either of my two have any issues like this, is since she went right back to playing fine...is she likely okay? It seems crazy since her toes are so tiny, but I guess it could have just caught the edge of a nail or something. Or is it normal for them to hop and play and run normal on an injured foot, which I could also see.
My two for tax.

As long as there is no blood and she has all of her claws she'll probably be fine. It's not like they could splint something so tiny. Once Goober got a claw stuck in a blanket, got the blanket twisted around a ramp and fell to the next level, and panicked and yanked out a claw. He got 5 stitches and had to wear a club cast for 10 days. The only activity where it slowed him down was ascending/descending ramps. I hate to think where they got that sound effect. No serious injury.

That is VERY close to the sound Pippers made! I was horrified thinking I'd squished all of her or something. Poor Goober! I knew Pippi would be the one to have something happen eventually. She has no fear, is constantly launching at things, and is always racing to be underfoot. As a baby she would find ways to get stuck in things no one could imagine possible. I was even holding her seconds before to prevent this, but somehow the moment I set her down (quite a ways away) she ended up back under the chair. Ferrets! Thank you for the reassurance! I'll still chat with the vet, but I've been monitoring it closely and it doesn't even look swollen, red, etc and she's acting completely normal. I'm thinking we got lucky and maybe barely caught it and she was more panicked than anything. The semi-silver lining, she looks at the chair like its something to be afraid of now, so maybe she'll be a little more cautious about it...at least for today. I'm sure by tomorrow, we'll be back to reckless.

Glad she's good. I would think there would be swelling and discoloration by now, from my experience. That said, ferrets are good at hiding pain, or they don't feel it like we do. Goober is my avatar. Your furbs are adorable

Sounds like you got away with just a scare, good that nothing serious happened.

You can touch and feel her hurt paw to make sure she doesn't feel pain in them. As long as it's not very red and she's not lethargic, she should be fine.
