I am about to start transitioning to raw but am having trouble finding chicken hears. Were does everyone get theirs?

Hispanic grocery stores often have them, general butchers can order them for you, or online. My local grocery store ordered them for me once, but I had to buy ten pounds at a time. That was a mistake for a single ferret household, they started to get freezer burnt after half a year and I ended up making chicken soup for myself using most of them.

I'm in Canada. I can find them in the local grocery store but my ferret doesn't eat chicken so I have to get him beef heart which I get at a small butcher shop.

I get duck hearts. I have used these people before, I can't remember who my husband ordered from. www.farmfreshduck.com/45-duck-heartsI get about five pds and freeze them in several freezer baggies. They last a long time for my boy. Shipping cost is awful.

You might be able to get the beef liver from the local grocery store too. That's where I get mine. I find that the grocery store here brings in these items at the beginning of the week so you may want to ask the person in the meat department when they usually bring in the chicken hearts. They might be able to tell you. If I'm not there at the beginning of the week then I miss out on the meat I need because others buy it up. I'm actually able to get turkey necks and backs from my local grocery store too.

Regular groceries around me have been out of chicken hearts and livers for a couple weeks--trouble keeping them in stock, from what I hear. I've still been able to get pork heart and organs from the Asian market, though (but they butcher on site--I know because one time I was quite fascinated watching them briskly hack apart an entire pig carcass ).
