Hi all! I have 3 ferrets - Gizmo (boy) 1 year 5 months, Storm (girl) 1 year 3 months, and Chewy (boy) 10.5 months. They have been eating Instinct Ultimate Protein Chicken, and my boy Chewy has had tummy sensitivity basically his whole life. Started after his 3rd and final Distemper vaccine. Where he had a severe reaction and fought for his life for 3 weeks! Anyway, I thought I would try FDR less fillers, convenient and better for all 3. I bought Duck, Duck, Goose Stella and Chewy and they want nothing to do with it! My oldest eat is the only one that will take a few licks. Only if I’m holding him and the spoon.I hold them with a spoon and dab some on their noses. They shake in disgust and run away. I do it a few time each time I try. So I don’t stress them out. Anymore tips!? How long does the process take “usually”? I love my little crazy fuzzbutts ❤️

Hey there. That must have been scary with the distemper vax. We had one that had a severe reaction to rabies vax and almost didn't make it. Let me suggest a couple different ideas to get them to switch, If you have not tried feeding soups before. Try soaking the kibble in warm water long enough for it to get soft. Or, grind the kibble with a coffee grinder and add warm water and stella's. if this works add less kibble and more stella's each time you feed. This has worked for me to get them to eat any raw at all, which was S&C and ground turkey.

Hi Uncle Joe, thank you for your response! It was quite scary with the reaction. We were in and out of our normal vet and ER for 2 weeks and then he finally started to get better. We couldn’t get his face swelling and coughing under control, and found out that he had aspiration pneumonia through X-ray. Due to his vomiting 😞 but, he pulled through and is such a sweet spaz. Haha. Anyway, back to my question at hand. Yes, they have had soupies. They actually love them!! I grind their kibble and add hot water and a tiny bit of salmon oil. I was told mixing the FDR and kibble in soupies can upset their belly? If this is not the case, I would definitely be willing to mix in a little FDR. That makes total sense to add a little and as they get used to it lessen the kibble and add FDR. Is this the method you are talking about? I really want them to enjoy FDR and get all the benefits from it! Especially if it will help my sensitive boys belly. Is there anything else I should know? Do poops change due to the mix/transition? Are FDR poops any different? I would like to get them to the point of having 2 FDR meals a day and I don’t mind leaving their kibble out for snacking 24/7. Thank you so much! Any and all help is appreciated 😃
